Read books and you will be miserable

in #the6 years ago

Each one of us craves success. Or, at least we think so. But, there is only one, one little thing that is constantly pushing us away from achieving it. And, more often from even making the first step.

No, it's not the lack of motivation.

Nor it is shortage of options. No, there are always plenty of them.

Browsing through amazon, you see many books. There is no such thing as lack of knowledge. Happy as hell you start buying these books and reading them. There is so much power you can find in them. After reading each chapter you nod your head and say to yourself 'It's doable! If I only follow these exact steps, I can make the same success as Donald Trump or Brian Tracy or Kiyosaki or whoever I want'

And then, all excited you lay down the bed and dream, dream about your great future to come. You are armed with all the knowledge you need in order to win and beat down your miserable past.

And then, few days pass, you go with your day to day life and most of the thins you've learned evaporate out of your head. After some time you wake up again, see that literally nothing has changed in your life and go back to your drug again. You need to read another book to feel like succees.

What you did not see is that whole this scene happened only in your head.
There was no magic happening suddenly when you gained new knowledge. You did not become a more educated person at all.

We, as intelligent people do it all the time. We think that we need to gain enough amount of knowledge to do something. I need to say that I wasted like 10 years doing that over and over again.
Do you see that this is no different than drinking alcohol, sneezing drugs or watching porn all the time? And what sort of trap this thing is?

We only please and masturbate our minds his way.

It's ok to read self-help books in order to get inspiration and mindset.
But after reading one or two (I noticed that most of them are copy-pasted between one another) the only, only
way to change anything is to:

 - take action
 - fail miserably (withstand the pain)
 - repeat until something happens

And yeah, it will hurt. There will be times you see that this is injustice that you are tired and out of money or friends.
And this is the moment to go further, not closer to books again.

Remember, no action, no reaction.

Take care.

Mateusz.
