The Manhattan Bridge

the Manhattan bridge.jpg

This is a shot of the Manhattan Bridge as seem from the Brooklyn Bridge in early morning light.

It seems wherever you are in NYC you always see new construction going on and its no exception with this view where you can see a new building climbing into the sky.

A Little about the Bridge

The Manhattan Bridge is a Suspension Bridge crossing the East River between lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn.
Construction on the bridge started in 1901 and it opened to traffic in December 1908.
It was the last of three bridges built back then across the East river following the Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges, it was originally named Bridge no 3 but the name changed to the Manhattan bridge in 1902, and I think its a far better name than Bridge number 3 personally.

This is another shot of the Manhattan Bridge, taken after crossing the Brooklyn Bridge and from one of the parks on the Brooklyn Side

All photos on this blog are taken by myself, mostly with a Sony Mirrorless camera

Bahbahra waves 👋 hi

Ditto Luigi Haha ! ^_^
It seems like a painting, this is really gorgeous my friend ...!okay.png

Thanks 😂
Yes I went a more painterly style with this

NICE photos and Manhattan bridge info.

Thanks Mike 👍

I think you've outdone yourself this time Jay! Even judging based on the scale of your consistently high quality work, these are exceptional!

Thanks coming from you that is a huge compliment and

Certainly one of your best! Amazing photo!

thanks that’s so kind of you
I wasn’t even sure aboutvediting these ones to be honest

Gorgeous colors, and thanks for the history lesson about the bridges too! :-)

I am not great at writing from the top and f my head so I throw in random facts lol

I have always loved both views from, and of the Brooklyn Bridge. The Manhattan Bridge is great as well. Very pretty pictures, I love the crane, and ongoing construction. Great work!

thanks I do love both bridges also

Amazing shot, Jay. The colors are really vibrant (love the blues). HDR or just an amazing camera? :)

These are HDR in early morning light

You have such a good eye. The mechanics are great but the framing and subject and the colors are most excellent.

Thanks kindly
I have been told that a lot I do think it’s right I think I am better at framing shots than some of the technical aspects

I have no real insight into photography in a technical sense. I just kike the feel of what you do. Peace

Thanks photography it’s a hobby for me and my way of relaxing 😎 and unwinding

Helps me keep my sanity

Sneaky Ninja Attack! You have been defended with a 4.43% vote... I was summoned by @tattoodjay! I have done their bidding and now I will vanish...Whoosh

Beautiful architecture and the story of how steel was produced back in the day is a fantastic. Never did they believe things like this could be done.

It is amazing what they built back in those days without the technology available today

Ya man. Have you read on the story of Andrew Carnegie?

I have read a little about him but not to much to be honest

It is an amazing story on the vision he thought of. Back in the day they never could conceive that steel could be made into large pieces. He thought of it and made it happen with a bridge.. Then skyscrapers followed.

Ohh yes I think I did read about him and his vision

Very innovative

You have such a good eye. The mechanics are great but the framing and subject and the colors are most excellent.

Thanks Kindly such a neat very

Wow, awesome HDR. Well done. The bridge looks amazing with this sunny colors. :-)

Thanks
I used to not be a fan of HDR but now I do a lot of it

The morning light almost gives it a surreal look. I'm glad it didn't stay as bridge number3. That's just so boring...

Thanks and yes very boring ok for some of the small bridges but not fir this grand structure

Great shots mate :) I really like how the light hits the buildings in the second shot yet the bottom of the bridge remains in the shade. I do prefer the brooklyn bridge though and have always wanted to get a shot of it. We are potentially going to NYC for a short break next year, So I hope to get a shot or two then.
Is the Manhattan bridge just for car traffic?

I prefer the Brooklyn Bridge also but it gets all the attention so have to get some shots of the Manhattan bridge lol

Yes the Manhattan Bridge is just for vehicles

Good luck with getting to NY next year

That's fair, the Brooklyn bridge does seem to be the favourite. Thanks, I am looking forward to it, it's been years since I was last in NYC so I hope this trip goes ahead.

Lets hope it does :)

Wow - I love the colors in these pictures! They are amazing. Interesting that the bridge was originally named Number 3 - Brooklyn Bridge is much better. It was built a long time ago!! That's amazing!! Thanks for sharing. :) #thesteemengine

Thanks for your visit and support, it would have been a shame for such a grand classic bridge be called bridge number 3

You really are talented.
The colours in the first shot is awesome!

Thanks Kindly its a hobby I have a lot of fun with

This one is such a lovely capture I love the colors and everything just looks so vibrant and awesome

Thanks for the visit and support i really do appreciate it

Woah! The pictures just look magnificent. Great photography.

Thanks I do appreciate your visit and support

Early morning light wow. I have not seen the Manhattan bridge in that lighting. Very nice. I like that there's that construction in the back. Always building, NYC... When did you take the photo? Is it recent?

This was back towards the end of summer when the temps were still relatively nice, supposedly breaking up above freezing later this week so hope to get out for some new shots then

Those are beautiful shots and the color in them is stunning!!

Just once in this lifetime, I would love to visit NY. Although I may have to walk around it early like you do to avoid the crowds. lol

Thanks so kind of you to say

I am lucky to live here and be able to avoid the worse crowd, I think if you visited to make the most of the time here you would have to deal with some crowds

Amazing photography and I learned some things I didn't know. These photos are artistic.... wow, just wow

Thanks so kind of you to say :)

It's true! Would make a really great postcard

:) your so sweet

Holy cow! I LOVE the colors in these photos!!

Other people have said it ... but, yes, these photos look like paintings. Amazing colors here. It's hard to believe they were done with a camera.

Often I go painterly style with some edits 😎

Gorgeous, gorgeous pictures!

It looks like a scene out of a movie.

Thanks so much 😎

These have to be the two best Manhattan Bridge photos ever taken! @tattoodjay and you already know I love NYC!

Thanks your so kind
But I have seen better shots of it which inspire me to keep improving
