The Daily Meme #320!

in #thehive3 years ago

Are you an author in the hive?
There are only about 5000 of us.
We get half the daily rewards pool.
Every day ~6000 posts are made.
I'm guessing there are fewer accounts than posts, because many people post 2 and more posts per day.

Have you thanked a whale for giving this game value?
They catch a lot of flack because of the centralization of attention this game creates organically.
Without them, none of this is here, or it is radically altered.
Maybe better, maybe not.
Hard to say.

Either way, their share of the available hive power has been going down, but not much.
I wouldn't be surprised to find that their share of the whole is actually going up, but they hide it by not powering up everything they hold.
We should have bought more from them when the price was lower.

Which brings me to the impetus behind today's post.
Since there are less than 6000 daily authors we need to organize.
Why?
Because the newbs are dumping and letting the whales accumulate even moar.

If you are selling the hbd you are getting for posting, and not powering that value up, you are the reason the whales keep the power to themselves.
You are also eating the goose that lays golden eggs.

It might take a year, or two, but if the authors agreed to stop dumping, at the end of an amount of time we might wake up and be in charge of our own destinies.
Together 'the whales' could not push us around any more.

If you have any hopes of 'being rich', you won't get there by spending everything you get.
Sombody could give you a billion dollars and you would spend every penny, because poor people have poor ways.
It's just how life under crapitalism works.
Anarcho-communism is very different.
But, you wouldn't know that because you have only read what the control freaks allowed you to even know about.

For those of you that have been here for a while, it is time for us to step up and take charge of what is happening here.
We do that by joining in the conversations taking place.
They are linked below.
I follow along in some of these rooms, honestly, there is just too much going on for me to keep up with them all, but, if you need me, specifically, dm me, or join The Hive Discordiant Room on element, otherwise, just put your two cents in where you see fit.
Your voice is important.

The centralization that has taken place here happened in this exact manner.
And good that it did, otherwise we wouldn't be here at all.

I think that we need to set cultural norms for the newbs to get used to.
Very few of us remember the n2, it doesn't exist for anybody that got here after hf17, so in the same vein we can set norms that will be just the way things are in the hive.

My proposal is that newbs need to power up 1mv before selling any off.

Now, the proposal is not that we flag the crap out them, although I am not totally opposed to that, either, but that we stop voting rewards to them.

People that are powering down to dump are not helping us reach mass adoption.
They are keeping the price lower than it needs to be.
When hive goes to 10usd, you are going to be blown away by the posting rewards coming your way.
That can't happen as long as there is more sell pressure than buyers can buy up.
As the price rises it is my supposition that more folks will be attracted to us.

I'm not opposed to people using the value we give them to improve their daily lives, I will sell some of what I have been given one day, too, but I am opposed to anybody not saving the 50% that gets powered up from each post.
If you need the money that bad, get a job.

If hive is your only source of income, what did you do before you found us?
Everybody that came here ate the day before without dumping what we give them, they can keep on with that, save what they get here and, at some point, they will be rich, probably.
Nobody gets to foretell the future.
But, math is pretty reliable.
Don't sell what you get for posting, grow richer after every payout.

As this game progresses, the authors will be given 32.5% of the inflation for posting, what we do with it is up to each one of us.
If you want hive to surpass bitcoin, you should probably look for dumpers and remind them that they harm us all by doing that.
Bitcoin will always be controlled by whales, we can escape that in the hive, if we will.

Games have rules.

Without rules there is no game.

Just as when the lawmakers break the law there is no law, only a struggle for survival.

These are public rooms managed by private people for the benefit of everybody using this blockchain.
What they do is voluntary, but openly public.
Don't abuse their willingness to work for the collective for what little we give them, eh?
Without them, none of this exists.

When you go through these rooms catching up on 'the community', be sure to look for the detective, and add your detective, too!

I am not a total HIVE evangelist, by this I mean that I wouldn't sell my mother for some 🙂 however I have faith that competition will keep on driving the price up, that's certain.. Out of these 6000 authors, some are drastically improving, and will only get better with time. Better pics, better words, better formats. A confession, I use to survive thanks to the money I earned here, then gave up for an entire year during the bear market. I rarely cash out now, because I know the value will increase, maybe not to $10 but even $5 would be gigantic, and attract more talented authors, increasing the competition.

Once folks figure out our blockchain advantages, 3sec blocks, 10sec irreversible blocks, 'free' transactions, pretty nice community willing to help anybody that asks for it, world class developers, flatter distribution, etc, the price should reflect that superiority, imo.
When that happens authors are going to flock to the pool.

What we have here is very early in the adoption, but not the development.
It is just a matter of time before the rocket launches, iyam.
People selling now are cashing out the golden ticket for nickels.

Happy New Year, FBA... Thanks for the help and support when I first arrived here four years ago.

Happy Festivus for the restivus, buddy!
I'm glad I could treat you the way we all deserve to be treated.
It is so rare in places.
Here's to a much better year this time.

😎

There are only about 5000 of us.
Every day ~6000 posts are made.

Which is the main problem of Hive (and SteemIt for that matter). There are not enough authors and not enough real postings.

If you need the money that bad, get a job.
If hive is your only source of income, what did you do before you found us?

Have you never considered that people might sell HIVE to invest in a different more promising cryptocurrency?

I really don't care why people sell hive, it puts downward pressure on the coin and that holds us back from broader adoption, imo.

Have you never considered that people might sell HIVE to invest in a different more promising cryptocurrency?

I'd recommend flagging folks like that, or not voting them in the first place.
There is no coin more promising than hive, iyam.
Using us to dump what the community gives to invest in other projects is not the optimum behavior, in my book.

People get to do as they please, both up and down voting, selling or hodling.
Everybody gets an opinion.

Thanks for this deep post.
I actually did spend HBD, and after reading your post, kind of regret it. I never thought of powering down some HP, and hope to accumulate more of it.
Thanks also for the graphics. Is there any indication at what point you get to which tier? I am definitely in the smallest tier so far, but hope to climb the later as fast as possible.

Cheers,
@andy-plays

At 1mv you are a minnow, until then a redfish.
From there, 10 is a dolphin, 100 an orca, and 1000 a whale.
If you power everything up, you will grow in influence here.
If you sell everything, no influence for you.
Dumping too much will get you on the naughty list.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explaination!
Yeah, I am not intending to sell any more HBD, but transfer them to Hive and power up. Maybe bevoming a minnow soon ;-) And working on becoming a dolphin as soon as possible!

!gif thank you
