Low cost airline Citilink Indonesia will begin daily flights between Avalon and Denpasar, Bali from 24 January. The airline, a subsidiary of parent company Garuda Indonesia Airlines, began flying between Perth and Bali in November 2019, but this will be their first operation to the eastern states.

The airline was established in 2001 as a low cost shuttle service between cities in Indonesia and expanded in 2012 to become an independent business entity.

The Airbus A320NEO, carrying 178 passengers and cargo will depart Avalon daily at 12:50pm, arriving in Bali at 4.20pm local time, with the return flight landing at 8:50am.

Bali is one of the most popular tourist destinations, with almost 1.2 million Australians visiting the island each year.

Avalon Airport recently announced it will offer flights to Vietnam with Vietjet, celebrated its one year anniversary with AirAsia, and took out Australian Airports Association Major Airport of the Year Award.
