My newest book, Karma's Broken Dolls was supposed to be published come Friday, the 18th.
I was so excited! It's the fourth book I'd be publishing in 2020!
Life doesn't always go the way you expect.
My editor accepted the job, and then ghosted. With less than 30 hours until the submission deadline, she was not responding to messages, and not one single edit had been completed.
When I finally heard from her, she claimed she had not known it would be a "rush job" and she'd set aside the day to work on it.
I'm sorry, but it simply isn't physically possible to do a QUALITY edit of 140,000+ words in a single day.
Without the edits, the formatting could not be done. We ran out of time.
I couldn't publish an unedited work. So I have pushed out the publication date to the 11th of January. Which is #worldtraffickingday.
This is fitting, since book two of the Dollhouse Vigilantes trilogy focuses on children being trafficked out of my city, the port town of Duluth, Minnesota.
It's definitely a financial hit, and I am now looking for a second job, so the kids and I can squeak by.
I have a new editor on board, but it will take time to get it done. In the meantime, I'm working on the final book of the trilogy.
In happier news, I have an adorable new Chibi by the talented Marshmelty.
I'll have stickers and pins made of her for future give-aways. 💜
While this has been a disappointing, and even heartbreaking setback, I'm not going to let it break me.
Keep pushing. Remember to #make2020yourbitch!
Hope you the later release works in your favour.
