American artist James Earle Fraser sculpted numerous works such as the Ben Franklin Memorial at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Lincoln The Mystic at Jersey City, New Jersey and the statue of Alexander Hamilton that stands outside the U.S. Treasury Building in Washington.
Fraser even designed the Navy Cross Medal and the Buffalo Nickel (Indian Head) 5 cent piece that was struck in 1913.
His father was among a group of men who were part of the recovery following Custer’s Last Stand.
