Needless to say between the energy I have on a daily basis to do some curation, check up "what'shappenin'" on chain, crypto twitter and the usual chats there's also been quite some time to just think about the past, present and future. My health and the complications of my regular color not having returned I have to admit that a lot of those thoughts have been about Hive and Crypto in general. While I know that my family would roll their eyes and expect me to take better care of myself first I just can't help myself thinking about what is lacking, what could use improvements and what it will take for this amazing platform to go out there and welcome the masses to the new internet they've been needing without the majority even knowing about it or that it already exists.
Of course a lot of ideas may be a bit out there and I may not see the complications completely since I'm not looking at them from the eyes of a developer and what's possible but considering how early and how advanced our chain is there is very little that is impossible. At the same time I do have hope in our developers delivering, not just cause of the recent spur of activity and finally breaking off the chains of centralization that has plagued this chain for a long time but also cause I know that as someone I'd really prefer not to quote but fits well here is that "we're still ahead". Let's face it, even at the bottom of the markets there's not much that can outperform the way Hive works right now for consumers, creators and developers and this is mainly with our own inward resources alone, i.e. the reward pool. I can't even begin to imagine what's going to go down here once we start opting in the other means of income sources that the rest rely on sorely such as advertisements and something that has recently gotten bigger due to lack of performance of the aforementioned: marketing sponsors. All we need is that attention and it's not difficult to imagine how quickly it can come when the time is right and some money moves around and more importantly we are ready to seamlessly let anyone generate an (lite)account and get hiving and forget about the rest they knew the same way those of us active here daily have.
Now to begin improving one has to also look inward and I'm not going to tell you that my own activity or that of my project is where I'd want it to be, plans were set in motion and left midway but that's things that unfortunately happen now and then from unforeseen circumstances. One thing I'm glad to notice is how the other communities are growing now that we've stopped actively curating the OCD community, although I do still look in there from time to time as I do feel a bit bad for those providing good content and going unrewarded cause they "didn't get the memo" but I'm sure that over time they will. I am looking forward to getting those plans finalized and optimized as soon as I'm feeling healthier and more energetic and will have to deal with the repercussions this time off may have caused but let's face it, there's way bigger problems going on in the world right now than to cry over spilled milk.
Aside from curation and building a healthy distribution, something I've been attempting daily ever since I started my first curation trail back in 2016 I do believe we are getting there thanks to recent changes to the way the economics work and more and more stake being distributed widely. There will always be people crying foul over some parts of the system and others comparing and complaining over other parts but the point is that we are building something that's bigger than most of us here today and even if 90% of current stake gets sold and switches hands over the next 5 years it should come from as many different hands as possible and preferably into even more unique hands. Yes, I am also surprised how many times I could fit the word hands into that sentence. We are one of the best distributed currencies out there though so you can't shit on proof of brain all that much considering the rest of big currencies and how centralized their stake is and of course needless to say things only got better since HF 23.
Looking at the beginning of the last paragraph I realize I'm sidetracking again but I wanted to leave you with another thing I've been wanting to announce in the near future that has less to do with curation but I believe if done right and if the community like it and support it, we could together take it to a place that could take this ecosystem to a whole new level for adoption. I'm not going to say much more than it's something I believe I am a good critic for and the way I've fine-tuned it down to is now to a point where I'd myself be eager to get to experience it and see it come to fruition.
If I seem a bit AFK (other than right now still being in the hospital) it is most likely due to me working on getting it ready for public announcement and shortly after getting it going so it gets done as soon as possible and I really hope you guys will like it as much as I think I would if it existed right now.
Anyway, summer is starting and the lockdowns seem to be going away, for better or worse, so I hope you're enjoying your time and staying safe out there and most importantly, don't take things for granted. I thought the lockdowns were teaching us the meaning of "you don't know what you got until it's gone" but becoming sick and having to undergo surgery during a lockdown seems to be that saying squared.
On an end note, things aren't as bad as I made it out to be in that last part of this message, at least I'm not in pain and can still operate my craptop so I'll be trying to write a bit more often to get back into it and share some thoughts of other aspects of the platform I've been having while of course focusing more and more on curating and finding those new legitimate users that seem to be joining on a daily basis. Cya soon. :)
You should not think too much, you know..
About getting the masses to join and begin giving here, every existing user on this platform has a role to play. If we all promote Hive in all possible ways both online and offline, it would go a long way.
Personally, I've taken it upon myself to tell everyone I come across about Hive and in the past few days, I have seen the positive outcome of that. I have successfully onboarded 3 active users @Dantommy @Perosky1 and @Febbykeys just joined yesterday.
If we old users could do this more often and also educate them on how to engage on the platform, Hive's adoption would definitely increase.
Also, I miss all those initiatives contest..😎
Let's be the change we want to see in our blockchain and Thank you for on-boarding 3 active users!
Exactly. All hands must be on deck
Looking forward to some new arrivals from you.
BTW, I still use the OCD community when I am unsure where I should put something - it seems lame just to have it on my blog :D
Yeah we won't give up on it completely and in the future once we have some cool onboarding tools (which I've seen some in the making) I can see it be a good place for newbies who then find out about other communities through it and can get help with guidance, etc. So will definitely keep some curation going there then too but it's been great seeing onchainart, hivegaming and other up and coming communities grow and improve in quality with quantity. It's a great showcase of what competition and manual curation will accomplish in each specific community to make them more and more enticing to consumers over time. End goal will be where authors active are so good that you'll see autovotes switch more often and even soe great authors today pass the baton and opt for the curation rewards instead cause they can accept that something better has come along to take their place. Those who're stubborn will probably have to face a few downvotes but that's a scenario I was meaning to get into another time/post. :P
The communities definitely need the support to get users to use them and hopefully there will be a price rise coming at some point that allows for a wider spread outward of value.
I do see that many of the authors (myself included) who get support will eventually look for curation more and post less. It will also happen naturally when the quality and diversity comes to take attention away from those who have been getting it til now. I have always known my own time to earn is limited (I am not dead yet), which also makes me want to power up and support those to come :)
Hi Five @tarazkp!
Anyways, I had an idea. Something like an onboarding contest. Where people onboard talented people and if those onboarded people stay and post quality content, the onboarder and the onboardee get rewarded... probably with upvotes on their posts for a while, which can be decided. This might motivate people to get more talented artists, musicians and authors on the platform that they know. In turn increasing the value of the platform.Get well soon @acidyo! I can relate what you must be going through. I underwent a surgery during the start of this lockdown and have been bedridden for two months . Haven't made a post on this though. Probably will do one later when all's well.
Looking forward to see what your plans are for the communities. We (@pinmapple ) are working hard, without being pushy, to get users to post into the community, and thanks to OCD support are making progress.
You take care of yourself!!
Hope you get well soon bud, stay strong we are here if you need anything!
Thanks man!
I guess you shouldn't think too much health wise.
Whatever ideas you have will wait till you announce it.I'm really sorry about what you're going through right now @acidyo
The part where you said didn't get the memo
Could you direct me to the memo cause I don't understand.
Thanks
tl;dr is basically if your content fits into one of the communities we (and possibly other curation projects) support, then rather post there instead of in the OCD community. Think the list of comunities is in one of the pinned posts.
Ohh. I understand. Well it's better to post in the appropriate community to avoid over crowding in few communities I guess
Exactly.
Looking forward for your next move!
I hope you recocer well Acid! 😉
#tagmaster
You sound in good spirits and pretty bullish. Any idea when you'll be released?
As soon as they know why this bilirubin doesn't wanna leave me. They running some more tests now and consulting with another team that specializes on blood analysis so hopefully we'll know soon!
PS. I have so many DMs I need to get back to opening discord gives me anxiety, lol.
Hopefully, it’s shit not knowing what’s up.
And yeah, screw discord if it’s stressing you out!
About being bullish, yeah looking at the markets I'd say we not going down any time soon but Hive is of course a special case like usual and may go up or down whenever it feels like. :P
And that is on a par with all the other price analysis today 😁
The #and tag has 5 trending posts under it and it looks like Acid is in some fine company. I actually curated one of them :D
You should check out the editing master.
hmm, what's going on there? People spelling AMD wrong?
SEO score flying!
I'm sure I'm getting all those r/pancreatitis users to join with my posts lately. Same as all those who joined our discord looking for help with their OCD.
On-boarding, any way you can get it :)
Really? Did you help them out or pass them along?
Watch out mass adoption of users with diseases and disorders, Hive's coming for you.
They seem to be writing tags as sentences. "black and white"
it's a skill.
#it-s #a #skill
I am glad to hear that you are on the mend. I recall my mother having the same op. Not pleasant.
Good, too, that you're using the time to reflect. That said, the world is in a really weird place. We are on day 76 of our lockdown and seriously dealing with issues of loss of income and livelihoods as a consequence. Not to mention the challenges that go with limited social interaction. Mixed blessings all around.
Enjoy your summer as we head into winter.
Continue getting well.
PS Look forward to your exciting announcement.
Yeah I'm really hoping this year starts to turn around soon and hopefully it'll be one of those "darkest before the dawn" scenarios and that it includes funding and moving away from fake money into this new one.
You and me, both!
Things are moving now we have to let the waves flow and push our boat to the other side, first thing first im happy because you are finally not in pain OCD is from the best project on steem decentralised version and it is also more successful in Hive and you reach the goal i think, im curious about the next move I'll wait the announcement even that i can wait my curiosity works as well last thing last let say that what happend in steem stayed in steem we are hivers now and that's what matter.
Yeah I'm glad I decided not to write much about the past in this post, I think that for the community at least things went as well as they could have, especially those who truly value decentralization and freedom and for the rest they can now easier see the difference based on the actions taken on a daily basis.
be well.. really hope you get on top of your health .. generally speaking, when the docs aint having much luck.. try a one month whole food vegan diet.. theres plenty of amazing food to eat, and it can perform miracles.. depending on what is the issue.. IF doctors cant find anything, then quite often it can be related to diet or other factors that only you can really deal with..
if you want to know more, or would like a private consult with a very special integrative doctor.. let me know.. this doc can help diagnose better than anyone i ever met.. a regular House MD ..
keep up the great work. and thank you for this really open update .. much love!
Amazing!! You know it :)
Yeah, I guess I'm one of those who "didn't get the memo" about OCD & was wondering why my posts were getting any loving...
lazy bastard. we are all out here working our arse's off whilst your just laying around, taking drugs and getting waited on.
enjoy it whilst you can :)
Happy to be reading that you're not in pain my friend!
Wish you a speedy recovery :)
I hope you get to feeling better soon.
I know, from experience, the hospital is not really that fun.
Wake you at all hours of the night and wonder why you are tired and grumpy.
Go figure, right!
Wishing you a swift and full recovery. I’m grateful for the Work you’ve already done through Steemit and Hive, and I’m glad I had the chance to support OCD as a curator for a little while. I greatly look forward to this big new initiative you’re bringing soon. Peace.
Hey @acidyo, Thanks for posting this. It's only been a few months since I started on Steemit, and then abandoning Steemit to blog here, and I owe you a big thanks to you for your vote support when I got started doing all of this. It has been a WILD ride.
I hope you get to feeling better, I know it cannot be easy to have medical issues in a time like this.
Love the tags for this post!
Good to see you active and always thinking of what's next for the Hive community but health always comes first. What you are dealing with is not to be taken lightly. Unfortunately I know that from experience.
Make health your number one priority and the rest will be fine. Take care and get well soon!
Praying for you and sending lots of healing thoughts. Take this time to rest while you have it. Once real life hits it will be too easy to jump and run again without looking back.
@acidyo, I pray you get well soon. I am looking forward to the new developments you will introduce but for now, try to take better care of yourself
hey bro @acidyo sit and rest, you have done a lot of work. You also need to take care of your health
I agree that the way to produce anything of quality is to look inward. Hive is a great community and I am sure it is on the right track. I can't imagine how uncomfortable is to experience lockdown and health issues. Confined in a hospital. Good luck and get better!
I am glad that you have left your health problems behind. after that I suggest you take care of your health as your family wants :)
and it's nice that you come back to all these things
I am sure once you are completely back to high energy there will be a lot of new developments from your side that we can expect.
