The ends of the week are usually sorted for me because I like them for #thoughfuldailypost! @Wesphilbin waves the @thoughtfulposts flag for us as the curation account that rewards them thoughtful posts. Please consider delegating if you are the thoughtful type and want to encourage people to share their positivity.
Here are a couple quotes from a couple goats that made me pause, ponder, and discuss for #thoughtfuldailypost. Now with added matched music I curate with eccentric pleasure.
Truth
Miyamoto Musashi may actually be a history lesson for some who have never heard of him. In short, he was a real renaissance man with Japanese sword-saint, strategist, artist, and writer on his resume. Probably one to listen to!
Truth. I have been thinking lately about whether or not truth is subjective. Balancing the notion that everyone has their own truth based on perspective vs it is what it is no matter who you are. Perhaps it is a peace we seek and our interpretation of the truth is done so we can achieve that? Pretending should be done for fun and not as a way of creating a fake truth to comfort ourselves if you ask me.
Anyhow, Miyamoto sure must have seen his share of harsh truths in a lifetime that started way back in 1584. Perhaps it is the warrior spirit that gives him strength to bend to the power of truth and duplicate the benefits of his learning in his writing. Imma take his word for it and life less of a lie by accepting the truth and trying to be strong enough to bend gracefully while I fight my battles.
I am pretty sure Radiohead was talking about a different kinds of Bends but I love these guys and had to play this song to get it out of my head!
When to Fight
More along the lines of words from warriors, Sun Tzu preceded Musashi by a mind numbing ~2000 years! Chinese military general, strategist, philosopher, and writer makes Tzu have a similar resume to our last warrior but in a much different era and as a definitive part of a dynasty.
When to fight surely means something different now than it did 500 BC. fighting would have literally meant survival of not just the individual but the whole state. Sure we wage personal wars that are equally real to us now and we often do not have the chance to choose when to fight. Let's focus on real, physical fighting for this discussion and be thankful (to an extent) that many of us don't even have to do that anymore.
Imagine being credited with a truth along the lines of "an attack on the enemy should begin only after the enemy has no opportunity to either defend or counterattack." Surely it would help avoid unnecessary defeats which, back then, could take you out of the fight or the war for good. I taste the patience and wisdom of a seasoned warrior when choosing battles. I can sense the strength of character it would take to choose not to engage an enemy who is determined to battle and the potential blow to ego and reputation for doing so. In the end, the victories and failures define us and we will most likely be evaluated based on our victories. Knowing when to fight definitely will help stack those up.
I will adopt this as a 'choose your battles wisely' sentiment in the peaceful wars I wage. Many of us have the luxury of not having defeat mean the end of life so we can dare a little more. When it comes to the critical points of success, checking ourselves against this might help avoid unnecessary defeats and bring home key victories.
Into the Pit with FIGHT! I hope you know Rob Halford from Judas Priest and would love if some fans haven't heard of his other project/band called Fight. Brutal, aggressive and dynamic like a modern day warrior.
May we benefit from the wisdom of warriors in eras gone by as we fight for our survival! If being thoughtful is up your alley, you have the option to delegate to @thoughfulposts to increase the rewards for positivity.

Good reflection on words said long gone, listening to Radiohead was a treat not heard them do this song.
Parting thought, have a great weekend!

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 45/75) Liquid rewards.
Yikes. That is a sobering thought isn’t it? Certainly rings true these days and it is almost a shock that war isn’t obsolete in these times of peace.
Best to keep ones head down and enjoy life too many try drag others along with their ideas.
True.
The older you get, the less time you spend trying to explain or understand things for others. Let everyone walk their own path and try to match stride with people on a positive path!

Ah yes. Old music for our old bones. Makes you feel a little better when we know those warriors have been gone for centuries.
Sun Tzu's word is loaded with so much meaning, it's absolute wisdom to know when to fight and when it's not worth it.
Oh ya. Definitely made me pause and think. First about how this is a way of ensuring more victories and then of how that was mandatory back then or death was the lesson.
Even if we are comparing apples and oranges, there is something to be taken from this old wisdom to improve ourselves even the smallest percentage.
Knowing which battles to pick and which to forgo is an essential key to achieving success. I see myself as one faced with so many adversities and adversaries and i must deploy my strength and resources wisely to be able to win the battles and the war of life at last. Thanks for sharing this piece of combat wisdom. Have a great day.
Greetings @zekepickleman ,
What an interesting, thoughtful post...thank you.
Response to your musing with regard to 'Truth' There is 'true' and then there is 'truth'..There is absolute Truth ie...Maths and the Bible and then there is relative truth.
I will give Musashi a look...thank you for the link.
Many a warrior has contributed to the timeless truths...perhaps they are closer in proximity to reality than others...like you said 'harsh truths'.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
Definitely.
I think they might have been rebranded as life hacks some years ago. I am always looking for that thread that pulls things together in a crazy world. Then I realize that many of these “battles” are simple trials and inconveniences when you compare them to real battles these guys fought.
These warriors are outdated... we don't use swords and catapults...
Here's a quote for modern warriors..
"The AK-47, when you absolutely positively have to kill every mother fucker in the room, accept no substitutes"
Yah. They probably didn’t even have a wallet that said Bad Motherfucker on it!
I need that wallet
Very beautiful and thoughtful words loaded with so much meaning.
The truth remains the same, it can never be changed.
I still see too many examples of the “truth” being subjective and based on perspective. We do find our own versions of the truth be should pay attention to age-old wisdom and keep redefining our truths based on experience and learning.
We appreciate you taking the time, to either use #ThoughtfulDailyPost, or otherwise help this Community grow. So...
Thank you!!
