You made me look... I think I upvoted that account in the past (seemed/s genuine with full name, branding and everything), but haven't done it in a long time (not manually at least, but I follow a few curation trails when my mana goes too high). I agree, engagement is something different on Hive compared to other social media platforms where numbers matter more, and probably some people treat them the same way, especially if they have a significant following on multiple platforms.
I highly doubt we have people with a high following outside, that would be an exception and I'd look the other way if those "bigger" influencers would have some assistance on their presence. They'd have to eventually also attempt to use that influence to bring in their followers to hive, however. If they're big outside but only cross-post here and barely get any engagement or engage with others then what's the point of rewarding them massively.
I absolutely agree. There needs to be a balance between value returned and rewards. On traditional social media, they are rewarded for the eye-balls that watch ads while looking at their content. Here, if they only cross-post, other than the value of the content itself (which requires little effort if it's a cross post), how does Hive benefit?
