Here in Merica!, most states don’t have inspections. You can get pulled over by a cop for a cracked windshield or dead tail light but until that happens you’re free to drive a klunker.
I’m going to drive my 14-year-old Honda Accord until it dies of multiple organ failure. Hopefully that will be after Steem moons.
It is (at least used to be) the same in Australia. Here however, it is a yearly inspection and if it fails, it has to be taken back and reinspected. I once had a car (1989 Honda civic) fail because of a tiny bit of rust in the back quarter panels. It meant wrecking an otherwise highly drivable car as the cost of repair was about twice the value of the vehicle.
