RE: Televangelist Jim Bakker: Jesus Will Return Within the Next Ten Years ✝️

I can't berate his opinion I believe he's entitled to it

You can criticize his opinion if you think it is utterly false.

That could then lead you to realizing your criticism is false OR maybe, just maybe, other people, maybe even him, might realize that his words don't represent anything true.

In my options opinion I believe the world will fuction better when we have mutual respect for opinions.

I think the world would functions okay when we respect opinions that are accurate but criticize opinions that are utterly false (or at least seem utterly false).

If we respect opinions that are false or lead to hardship and suffering, we are respecting lies and are encouraging the hardship and suffering of others.

Example:

  • If someone believes that it's good to kill their 21 year old daughter for having premarital sex, would you respect that and tell the father you respect his decision while he was on the way to kill his daughter?

Or would you tell him it's a horrible decision and will only ruin his life, lead to his daughter's death and cause her loved ones who actually care immense suffering?
