Its interesting how so many governments tend to work this way. It reminds me of the way companies convinced the USA and other governments of the world that lead was safe. Even though the population KNEW, they KNEW it was dangerous the health organizations re-assured them it was safe, said "we're smarter now, we know how to use it without causing harm." Truth was they never tested the companies claims and years later people with lead poisoning and children were handicapped by it.
You would think we would have learned from that, but money always speaks louder than the concerns of the populous.
in my opinion, anyone who think that politics and 'democracy' are a good idea is deeply lacking in awareness and critical thinking... this basically means that the decision making that comes from such structures is guaranteed to be pathetic at best.
