Thrive: to grow vigorously; to flourish or succeed; to prosper.
Many people believe that turning fifty is the beginning of the great decline. I believe quite the opposite. Here is why…
I believe that great relationships are proven over time.
I believe that wisdom is gained through experience.
I believe that perspective benefits from years.
I believe that emotional experience improves with age.
I believe that your capacity to acquire and rightly use material resources is improved by all of the above.
Therefore I must necessarily believe that the second half of life is much better than the first.
Those who believe that fifty is the beginning of the end may agree with the five assertions that I just made but point to the expected attrition of mental acuity, decrease in mobility and loss of strength and muscle mass as reasons for their pessimistic outlook on life after fifty. This is not my experience, and I am not alone. I am several years past the age of fifty and I am not slipping slowly into senility, any less mobile or losing muscle mass and I am far from the best example, as you will see in the weeks ahead.
I want to challenge limiting thought, change expectations and compel you to truly live. It may not be easy. Nothing worth doing ever is. But it is definitely worth the effort. You, as well as those you love and care for, will richly benefit as you live with passion and purpose while enjoying all that this life has to offer. Live, love and learn. Create, travel and celebrate. Build, plant and cultivate. Use this time to leave this world a better place for having lived, and give the gift of legacy to your loved ones.
Begin right now!
