I took these photos in Tibet in 1989 while on a semester abroad.
Namtso Lake is at an elevation of 15,479 ft. It is a salt lake.
That is me.
There are numerous caves near the lake that have been used for centuries by hermits for meditation, etc. These caves and the lake in general are visited as part of religious pilgrimages. Some of the caves have become makeshift shrines.
