On one occasion, during a conference on economics, one of the speakers paraphrased an idea that seems to be quite common among his colleagues:
The economy is about administration and planning with always scarce resources and needs that, if left unchecked, grow steadily. Of all the existing resources, the most scarce is Time, so it is the most expensive there is.
I share the idea of the colleague and I think it fits well with what you propose in your post, you need to plan and focus the efforts and resources to meet the objectives that we set. Of course, for this we have to answer: What do we want?
This question from the previous paragraph always reminds me of a fragment of Alice's dialogues in Wonderland, when asking for an address to the cat tells her that it depends on where she wants to go, she tells him that it doesn't matter and he mocks saying that it is not relevant which way to go. I interpreted it as if you do not have your clear objectives, all your efforts are dispersed and it is difficult to fulfill them.
