[Winners!!] πŸ†πŸŒ First Tiny Planet Contest! - Symmetry (4 SBD price money)

in #tinyplanetcontest β€’ 7 years ago (edited)

A big thank you to the participants joining my first #tinyplanet contest! To me, it was all about tiny planet awareness and education. And I think we succeeded here! After long deliberation, I have decided on the following winners:

πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†

@timmm has the advantage of owning a 360 camera and that made it much easier for him to create a tiny planet. A few reasons that I have chosen this photo to be the winning one. The weird distorted lines caused by the beams & poles are the main reason for me wanting to have a 360 camera and create my own #tinyplanets. He put the camera in a non-standard location and created a symmetrical and weird view at the same time. On top of that, he made the effort to photoshop himself from the photo. I think the shade gives away his true hiding spot, though ;)

I like the effort that @jctdesign took to make this tiny planet. It wasn't part of my plan to have people spend a large amount of time creating a #tinyplanet. With a standard app, you could do it in a few minutes. But @jctdesign found a pretty good tutorial to do it in photoshop and did it by hand. Although his planet suffers a bit from faux symmetry, I wonder if you can find the spot where both ends of the panoramic photo are stitched together. If I see it correctly, he had to "move mountains" (and buildings) to make that happen.

@jarol used a DSLR with a fisheye lens to shoot this photo. You can tell the benefits of a camera like that versus a standard 360 camera where the edges lose quality. The stitching is perfect here, and symmetry is present. The only reason that it didn't end up higher is because that there isn't much going on on this planet. If only it would reflect the thrill of wake-boarding more!

  • Honourable mention for @meertcevik who made me want to take a vacation to this creepy world full of clones ;)

I enjoyed seeing all these different approaches to creating a #tinyplanet. We had 360 cameras, normal cameras with fisheye lenses, photoshop and specialised tiny planet apps. Every approach has his challenges and it was fun to see these come up in this contest.

Join me in congratulating the winners! And please do upvote them! See you next time and keep making your #tinyplanets!

So the number of participants was a bit disappointing. That's why I'd like to ask you your feedback. What can I do to make this better? Should I do this contest again?

Firstly, kudos to you for hosting this contest! I had no idea what a tiny planet was and I'm glad I know now, because of your contest and @jctdesign 's post. I'm sure there are many others like me who weren't aware of this. I did try my hand at it using an app and it was fun! Next time I'm going to submit an entry too! Congratulations to all the winners! :)

Woo~

I wish I spent a bit more time photoshopping this and fixed up the purple fringing.

I was in the shade, you can't see my shadow though ;)

Your competition has inspired me to take more tiny planet photos, so the #tinyplanet tag will have a lot more content soon ;)

Ah, thanks for the photo :) I was focussing on the shadow in the fence behind you, I thought it was a little too wide to be just a beam... Now that I know where you stood, I can actually see your feet ;)

LOL, I completely missed that :P

Thanks so much! This was my first attempt at creating a tiny planet, and I am honored to be included. You are right, I did move a mountain section from the bottom to fill the gap at the top where the skyline was stitched together. It was still pretty easy to do following the tutorial steps though... only took about 10 minutes.

Congrats to @timmm on 1st place. That is a great image and definitely a worthy winner. Great photos by @jarol and @meertcevik too. Like I said, it's an honor to be included in this group.

A worthy winner. I'll jump in on the next contest, because he'd also make a worthy runner-up.
@timmm and I both have the Xiaomi Mijia Mi-sphere, (less than $300 on gearbest.com)
Very user friendly, simple operation and dust/splash proof.
Highly recommend.

That sounds like a challenge ;)

dust/splash proof I believe they'll survive being fully submerged too :P

Yeah, I expected you to beat him... High expectations for the next contest now!!

Congratulations to the winners! :) Lovely photos of planet at all ;)

Congrats for winner! I'm so happy to be part of this contest :)

I am happy that you joined :)

Congratulations to the winners. Pretty nice contests, by the way do you think is possible to do it with android phone? If so can you explain a little bit?

Thank you I think I missed that post :P

I miss a lot of posts too, no worries ;)
