It's just notation. The symbol '$', "dollar sign" or just as appropriately, "peso sign" can be used to represent US dollars, Argentine pesos, Mexican pesos, Canadian dollars and Chilean pesos. On Ecency, a dollar sign is used to represent the value of posts and rewards.
I noticed when I pretended to want to buy something it gave me exactly a 1:1 price for HBD. If it was $32 it was 32 HBD. I'd use it if there were vendors in Argentina. I don't want to deal with customs.
I do understand the reasoning behind listing items in FIAT. easier to get sales from non Hive people.
The idea behind crypto is to remove the power of the FIAT system. Everyone I look at, plays in to the FIAT system when they say they are for crypto.
On the site it states they are "no longer accepting fiat payments." How is that for being for crypto?
