Lots has changed in Boston and it's many neighborhoods.
Some are completely unrecognizable
Many of Bostons longtime businesses have seemed to have vanished especially over the past few years but one that has toughed it out
and for over 60 years, is Tony's market in Roslindale
A number of years ago Tony's moved the iconic shop from Rozzie square,
uptown to the Metropolitan Avenue section of SOPO (South of Poplar)
and has really settled in to the neighborhood.
Tonys new location features fresh hot sandwiches made to order.
You know, one time i was sick and home from grade school. My dad brought me home a meatball sub and after eating it i felt instantly better. It was really something.
To this day, if im not in full health, i will grab a meatball sub from whatever local shop.
... ideally i'd be local to Tonys for such an occasion.
Now Tony has built his reputation on providing cuts of quality meats at a fair price.
Tonys also is the go to spot for holiday specialties
like porcetta lamb and veal here in Roslindale
In addition to the meats Tonys is a proper Italian groceria with many impotred items directly from Italy.
LAVAZZa Coffee and Garofalo Pasta , Romano and Parmesan Cheeses and antipasti
Another fun fact, Tony is a champion swing dancer.
I had found myself one time at a swing dance event and the dance instructor upon learning i was from Roslindale
was more than excited to let me know her dance partner was none other than Tony himself.
Tony has built his business on word of mouth and has established himself as one of Bostons top butcher shops.
Tony takes no days off and is active healthy and a super good dude.
