Agreed. Newbies can make much more with good posts and comments. They shouldn't worry about curation rewards to start with. Making connections with people is more important.

We totally agree and we encourage this school of thought. We were motivated to do this post because of how unintuitive/opaque it is for new users that you can earn SP by upvoting and that there is a complex mechanism behind those calculations.
I find comments are sometimes better for newbies than posts. A lot better because you get to not only appear in whales' posts comments but also share in their rewards. 😀 😃 😄 😁 Have a wonderful day!
Thank all of you for you input on this post. I am a newbie and trying to figure out how everything works and have been unsure the best way to get started on steem. So from what I understand, curation rewards are very minimal until you have built up enough steem power. How much do I need to keep in steem power?
Not sure trying to figure it out myself.
