Hello All,
Personally as an avid trader. I do my own research before investing in any alt coins on crypto world.
I would like to share some of my own note here as it may help the newbies to find the exact technology behind every coin..
I have done research and analysis for 20 coins which I'm holding as a mid to long term. Find those below
- bitcoin (transfer of value and secured, Japan legalized it, some others like Russia in the process)
- wings (future dao, quite cheap)
- eth (many developments and new coins built on it and supported by big corporations)
- golem (renting of computing power and potentially providing income
- dgd (pegged to gold and have ethereum backed) but abit expensive
- steem (one of the fastest transmitting speed plus other development
- xlm(str or stellar), commercializing
- augur, expensive but prediction of future, got competitor already launch
- gamescredit
- stratis and rlc (blockchain)
- antshares (china block chain)
- bcap, qtum and qrl icos and some ethereum based and not ethereum ico haven't launch, once an ethereum based ico is launched and well received, the ethereum pricing tends to go up)
- dgb, multiple develoments include video channels and one of fastest transaction
- Iconomi and one newly launched competitors
- xem (nem) Japan using and got mobile app
- nxt, another block chain concept
- edgeless - gaming with app
- pivx, crw and ion, ark which have master nodes and residual income, but not really my main cup of tea
- monera(xmr), dcr and some privacy coins except dash here
- waves and Lisk, waves is Russian based
Note : etc don't have good projects
Xrp is a transfer coin, being too high value might super bubbled too soon.
Please google more or research, I might not be right All the time. Thanks

Thank you @mrstaf.
Nice article. Interesting to see I'm not the only one that is thinking about this. You read this stories about people selling their cars to buy cryptos and I think to myself: Don't invest money you don't have. We really need more insights in the market and previous investment results. Besides coinmarketcap.com there is: https://www.coincheckup.com This site is really helpful in my coin research. I don't know any other sites with so much indepth analysis.
