The General Cruz Carrillo National Park is a space that offers an incredible view, the park enjoys narrow and deep valleys, low fertility soils and caves, as well as waterfalls and lagoons. The park was created in order to protect the high forests of the eastern sector of the Andean Cordillera.
The park, also known as Guaramacal, is a biodiversity conservation zone, where a large number of endemic species are found, which are only located in the park.
In the park there are several caves that have a high historical and archaeological value in which important objects of the ancestors have been found. Many of the areas of the park that have rivers and streams feed the Boconó reservoir.

General Cruz Carrillo was created on May 25, 1988 and has 21,491 hectares, located in the Trujillo state and part of the Portuguese state. The park is privileged with lush vegetation between cloud forests and Andean moors.
In the area there are several waterfalls and lagoons one of the most famous and therefore one of the most visited places is the Laguna de los Cedros located at 1,800 m.s.n.m. As for the weather, it is usually humid and cold, in many occasions it is possible that in the environment there is fog during the morning.
Its flora to this day is still under study, approximately 1,227 species can be found, among which are orchids and ferns. In the park there are some animals in danger of extinction, such as the paují cúpte de piedra and the bear frontino or also known as the Andean bear.
In the park the biodiversity and the watersheds that supply water to the surrounding populations are persevered.

Places of interest
In addition to its fauna and rich vegetation, in the park there are several lagoons, rivers and streams that can be visited and why not take advantage and take a dip in which they are suitable.
One of the attractive places is the Quebrada de Segovia, and the Laguna de los Cedros.
Recommendation
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes (sporty) as well as well padded, because instead it is cold, also suitable shoes preferably anti slippery.
In the park it is possible to camp, but with prior notice. In many of the attractive sites of the park (rivers, lagoons, streams) there are stalls selling food and the occasional artisan. However, you should be warned and bring a snack and water in a bag.

How to get
By road is via Boconó. When you arrive in Boconó you should take Emilio Cordonez avenue.
