Store bought a massive Masters of the Universe collection yesterday and just starting to put some of it on the shelves. Here is a quick look at 2 of the rarest and most valuable figures in the collection.
These are the Giants, Megator and Tytus. Both are in reproduction boxes, but are 100% complete with authentic weapons and armor which is amazing. Plus their hair is in great condition...I know that sounds weird, but it's a big deal on these guys as some kids cut the hair or pulled it out.
This collection literally had 1 of every figure ever produced! Absolutely amazing. These are by far 2 of the hardest figures to find as they were never released in the United States. These are 2 of the biggest "Grail" items in the vintage toy collecting world and they are both sitting on a shelf in my store. Very excited to share more of this collection over the next few days.
Oh and that little guy up front in the photo, that is a standard size Masters Figure and gives a little perspective how huge the Giants are. The Hoard Trooper is also one of the harder to find figures in nice condition. The fact that he stands and holds together on his own makes this one pretty desirable.
Well the tv show toyhunter is the first that came into mind when reading your article!
Not what I was going for, but for sure will take that all day. His show was fun to watch.
Was a little bit strange if you are not familiar with it, but indeed great to watch.
To bad that there weren't show in which the profit was explained, like they do sometimes for Pawn shop :)
They had an episode where they showed him selling at C2E2 here in Chicago, but it was total BS. You can't purchase items at the prices he would claim to pay and then turn a profit. It was much like American Pickers, the show is all staged and nothing is real.
He also knew exactly what someone had before agreeing to go to their house or store. Then he had the people hide the item in a place so he could "find it". No store owner or collector has zero idea that their best items are there.
It was only fun to watch for the details about the different toys. The rest was pretty frustrating as someone in the business.
Can imagine!
Probably lots of these shows are fixed. Like pawn shop.
Those expert always do have time and all live around the corner! 😂
I know the owners at 2 of the stores they filmed at plus watched them in action at the Chicago Toy Show. In that episode they "bought" a rare Mego figure for 5 figures. Talked with the guy after the 2 plus hours they had his booth blocked off and unable to sell anything due to filming and they actually didn't buy it. It was 100% for TV. They made the guy looked like he didn't know what he had, wasted over 2 hours of prime selling time at one of the busiest shows in the world, and then didn't even buy the item.
Pure staged nonsense...but still was fun to watch for the entertainment value of seeing a lot of rare toys.
Never released in the US makes sense as to why I’ve never even heard of these guys! Still surprised I never saw anyone mention them until now. What a great time to grab the collection. I have high hopes for the new Netflix series.
Yeah the collection timing is great. Already sold a few of the big items from it yesterday...didn't even own them for 24 hours. Personally think the new series will be good, but not as good as most are expecting. Hope that let down doesn't make people hate it.
I like going into shows or movies with little expectation. When I go in thinking "this is going to be great" I'm almost always let down, but when I go in without an opinion most of the time I can appreciate it for what it is vs what I wanted it to be.
That all said it's hard going into watching this without some level of expectations since it's a show I loved as a kid. Did go back and watch a few of the original cartoons and that actually lowered my expectation some...there were pretty bad compared to todays standards so now almost anything will be better...lol
