What keeps the value of Steem Dollars equal to 1 dollar? It's just Steem saying they're worth 1 dollar. If someone is out there and wants to buy them, the price can go up. Conversely, if a bunch of people with Steem dollars want to sell them, I can guarantee you they'll be worth far less than a dollar each.

and when the value of steem goes up the value compared to the dollar goes up too?
and the entire think is powered by us creating new original posts... those profiting from our time that we spend on SteemIT ?

Mind bending for sure! It should be worth only a dollars worth of Steem but it's more probably because it's got more value for now or is in demand for its stability I guess. It's just my assumption though. Man, my head hurts from this right now 😁

Whatever happens to the price of Steem, a Steem Dollar will only ever be worth a dollar's worth of Steem.
However people are buying Steem Dollars for twice that on the open market.
That makes no sense at all LOL
well, a steel penny is about 100k$
so a dollar for 2.5$ sounds reasonable :)
Maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Maybe a Steem Dollar is more like an antique coin than a cryptocurrency.

You could do.. the catch is that deposits/ withdrawals on Poloniex are suspended at the moment.
Can't you just convert on Steemit?
Converting on Steemit will only give you a dollar's worth of Steem.
Selling on Blocktrades or the Internal market might give you a better return.
However Poloniex (and to a lesser degree Bittrex) are offer crazy rates.

check out volume in almost all, that is number of buys-sells per unit of time .... it is FLAT so probability towards the buy in the dips ... IMHO ...

I think they are misunderstanding the SBD token to be the real token and are pumping it by mistake. Makes no sense! haha
