I had to giggle at the mosquito comment. Before I developed plantar fasciitis, I use to do a four mile trek to and between park systems, between the two was a long trail out to the other that ran alongside the river. They are currently developing that area so that there will be this huge park system that connects one end with the other, actually, if a person was really ambitious and planned accordingly timewise, you could actually walk even further to another park that sat on the other side of the one I'd walk to. I am thinking that would be a dawn to dusk endeavor, dusk means exiting back to where you began before dusk as I found out one time if you weren't off the river trail by dusk you were running to get out of there before the mosquitos carried you out.

Lol, now that is a lot of mosquitoes.
I kind of wish I was able to hit up more of these trails during the cooler months. Now so many of these places are going to turn into little marshes with all the rain and heat coming on down.
At some point I want to start doing some 20 mile days. Perhaps one day working up to some kind of multiple day trip. It’s kind of hard down here as it seems most places are closed after sundown.
Anything more akin for thru-hiking here that allow some kind of camping is known for being covered in water. I don’t want to know how many gators could be lurking in trails that have sometimes miles of almost knee deep muck some of the places people have to cross though once the rain starts.
I am glad I don't have to worry about gators. I stayed with a friend down in Florida years ago, they had four patio/decks/docks leading down to their pontoon in a canal off Lake Tarpon, I asked her once why so many, and she said gators can't climb stairs. Started making sense once you sat out there late at night and could hear them ruffling through the brush underneath.
I guess that is the plan in works for the river trail park area, a camp ground. You camp there you could easily walk to the zoo in one direction, or go the other way and end up at the beach. The one park I never did walk out that far too, has nice sledding hills in the winter.
