I've Been Working on the Railroad!

Change of Plans

On Saturday my husband told me that our family was invited to a work party for Sunday afternoon. Yippy-ki-yay! This was just what I wanted to do on my Sunday afternoon (I was thinking about a hike followed by a siesta). But I thought," Why not? I can always have a siesta in the car if I get bored."

The Work

All I knew is that Mr. Man is building a railway in his backyard. I wasn't sure what to expect-maybe a train set in a gazebo? Nope! Think bigger! I ended up filling the spaces between the ties with gravel and sweeping them clear. It was interesting exercise. Not a hike but more memorable.

I picked the fun job because the other team had to prep the gravel bed and lay the ties.

First Section Done

We built it as far as the first bend and thus far it has been kid approved.
