I am sure everyone has seen or watched photos and videos taken with go pro camera, the kind of photos with very wide angle views.
Kayaking in James bond island (Thailand), okay I wasn't actually doing the kayaking but I am ready for next time
1. Gopro is not for the cool people only
For the longest time , I totally have no interest in buying one because I always thought it's for the cool people, the one who skate, who hike, play sports and stuffs. But after seeing a colleague's travel video and many other travel videos from YouTube, I was inspired to make one myself. It really allows you to collect many more memories even you are not sporty or adventurous person.
( first time riding an ATV, probably I failed)
2.It's super lightweight and small
If you own a DSLR or similar type of camera, you know it's a bitch to carry around when you travel. I own a entry level dslr camera with few different type of lens , there were times during my vacations where i had to constantly have to worry whether it might damage my camera or I just felt so tired carrying around the heavy camera the whole day.The Gopro itself is very lightweight and small , even if you use a housing it comes with it, it's still very small, can fit into any bags, so doesn't have to carry a separate bag for it. And because of the small size, it doesn't feel so awkward in the middle of strange people. I am not sure whether it's only me, especially as a woman when i am traveling alone, I don't really feel relaxed taking out my big camera while all the strangers are looking at you . With small camera, it definitely reduces some stares .
( speedboat adventure in the Maldives, all time favorite )
3.It takes really cool shoots
I am not gonna lie when I started using gopro for the first time , and even after several times of use, I felt really frustrated and hated it. It is not very simple for the first time user and getting the right angle and setting. But when you get used to it, it really is very simple and easy .Remember, keep taking many photos in different angles until you are satisfied.
( loving the swing life , Tioman island Malaysia)
4.Best Friend for a solo traveler
Remember the time when you are alone, you have to ask someone to take a photo of you,it turns out the photos are not how you like. Worry no more, with the gopro camera with the stick, it's your new travel favourite item.Because of the wide angle it provides, I find it better than normal self timer camera.
( I really like this angle, look like someone took the shot - Bamboo island, thailand)
5.It's waterproof
Please don't think I don't need a waterproof camera because I am not going underwater. During your travel, you will encounter countless times, where you will be in a wet locations like on a beach, waterfalls, river rafting or when it rains and your normal camera will not be the best choice.
**But there are also few weak points **
1.No memory card included. You have to buy own memory card, it is using the microSD card and since taking videos require a good size and quality memory and most of them are quite expensive.
2.No accessories included, that is either selfie stick or mounting gears you have to buy separately
3.The battery drains really fast.
4.The lens/housing get foggy and it's super annoying.
5.The photos quality aren't very impressive if you are used to DSLR camera quality photos. but it's decent for most people.
Finally in my opinion, if you like to travel and looking for all around camera, Gopro is a really good camera to invest.
Thank you for reading..Hope you enjoy it , remember to up-vote if you like it and leave a comment of what you think.

Great post and beautiful pictures.
thanks a lot.
no problem. :P
I really want to get to know Thailand
It's a great country to start if you intend to visit south east asian countries one day.
Beautiful photos, I love the wide angle of go pro. It has a lots of benefits and now the new ones have lost of improvements, like display, or the connection with the app and the cellphone. And one of the bests, the night mode, with this one they totally have my upvote. So yeah, go pro is an amazing travel and everyday camera, I just love it. Great post, with great pics. you earned a follower.
thank you, I personally think gopro perform poorly in low light situations. may be they upgrade it since then.
The mobility, the ability to attach it to things, and the image quality are the best features of the GoPro in my opinion.
The weakest features are image stabilization and how it deals with subjects 20-30 feet away. Up close subjects and wide open vistas look great, things in the middle seem too distant. I bought a gimbal for about the same price as the camera and stabilization is a non factor (unless I need the water proof housing)
I've traveled with it quite a bit and I love the camera for its versatility and have put together some really fun videos. I would recommend it, yes.
I agree , it is unable to capture things from a distant ( not even so far away) , I should add that on the review. I am gonna check them out if you have those videos up in your feed.
I meant I have videos with me and havent uploaded as I dont want to.
Great pictures... I should get a go pro :)
you are the one who make the choice.. :)
I thinks gopro is good for travel camera,,it's small and easy to use..
yeah, if you aren't too particular about the image quality, I can't get over how tiny is it!
Great post + very nice photos :) Wondering whereabouts that was? :)
Thank you. I am gonna add the captions, missed out during image uploading.
Great shots and great tips. I always thought the Gopro was for more avid climber skater biker just as you mentioned great to know. I get mad when all my shots are of the kids and it doesnt even loom like I am with them. This would be great. Thanks again for the insight
thanks for reading.. you should definitely take more photos with your children .
This is really helpful. I am considering getting a new camera and the gopro was definitely on my option list. Thanks for sharing your experience
thank you.. I highly recommend Sony RX100 series or canon g7x, they are mindblowing for such a small camera, gopro for is a backup for more durable locations and wet situations.
Do you like it for video? Because that's what I wanted it for when I bought it. Every time I go on a trip I try so hard to love it and I just end up hating it. It's true what you say that it's hard when you come from using a DSLR. Sometimes, like you also mentioned, there are wet locations where I don't want to take my DSLR and want something waterproof and convenient, but the GoPro is still a long way from impressing me. I had never tried it for pictures until my last trip and loved taking pictures with it, but for video I'm still very unpleased.
nope! I think it is because for me and probably you too .we are very particular about the image quality. but for most of my friends, they don't seem to be bothered to much. If you want small camera , but quality image/videos like in dslr , I highly recommend sony rx100 series or canon g7x. Seriously these cameras just blow me away.
Yes! You are right! haha and I've actually heard good things about those cameras you mentioned from several people already so I will definitely have to look into those. Thank you for the recommendation :)
Go Pro is good even though expensive. I bought a different action cam, cheaper but the photos are just as nice. Good post!
thank you. which action camera did you buy?
I bought the SJCAM brand, pretty decent.
thanks for the info. :)
Beautiful! This looks like a great place to go!:) Please check my little journey тhe trip that I made soon. I hope you enjoy my photos. @nakedchef89

thank you.. will check it out.
I think if you're taking video then the GoPro is amazing - especially if you combine it with a gimbal for some super smooth action :)
Other than that, I still stick to my trusty (but large) DSLR ;)
if you get the energy to carry why not, for me I always felt so tired ! I also think the gimbal is awesome but u will keep spending more and more money $$$$
They are expensive :(
Upvoted & RESTEEMED :]
thanks a lot .

Honestly I think it is great. It always give that action feeling to the picture and create amazing images. :D
thank you.
You're welcome. My pleasure
Beautiful! Your photos and post are great too. ;-)
thank you.
You're welcome.
How do you manage to travel so often? @ aburmeseabroad
I work full time and travel on my off days/holidays.
I have the GoPro hero 4 silver and I love it! I make all my youtube videos with it.
that's awesome, did you post them here as well? I will check them out.
Yes. Not all of them, but many of my posts here on Steemit do have a youtube video.
Great photos.
I'm not a big fan of GoPro, even tho I own and owned some during the years. But I had a lot of issues with it. Especially the Hero 4 Black was horrible. I had to return it twice before I finally got one that's working properly.
I also think hero 4 black is not worth it considering the price. personally I hate it for the image quality .
I think the Hero 5 Session has the best image quality from all GoPros. If you care about the price as well then the Hero 5 Session is the best in quality / price wise.
Thailand looks beautiful🌺^_^ we're looking to get a go pro as well. Followed!
thank you very much. Yes it's beautiful country. :)
You have a beautiful rest, good luck!
thank you.
nice pics. goPro is great except for the annoying battery life
I absolutely agree on that.
I thought the first one was Ha Long Bay in Vietnam... I was close I guess.
You were right. They are both very similar. good guess!
Gopro camera on the trip is the truth of the camera
I have a better camera
The waterproof camera and the light-controlled camera
I really think it's the best on the trip.
what camera do you use? light -controlled would be amazing, gopro doesn't perform well in bad lighting.
But the cameras I use will not be suitable for travel.
Because I'm using a heavy DSLR to focus on people.
Now, of course, I switched to a mirrorless camera (Fuji film)
Still, the lenses are heavier and bigger.@aburmeseabroad My friends
I do not think there's a perfect camera.
I would like to recommend a Nikon compact camera that can shoot videos.
Perhaps the price range will vary.
