Traditional Maramures House
I stayed in one of these for a month in the village of Breb in Maramures county in Romania. The living conditions here is like a blast in the past. Very medieval. Manual labor and farming for subsistence - well ok, I think they get a stipend from the EU but you know what I mean.

I met some dude in Cluj-Napoca who offered me to stay at his place for 300 Euros, food included, for a month :)

Romania is a very underrated travel destination :)
It must be liberating to just disconnect from the world! What was your mindset going into a “medieval-like” destination?
It's just a blast from the past :) I guess even when the locals probably have smartphones and facebook I still like walking down the road and watching people working the farms with pitchforks and horses :)

I kind of live in a fishing village but it’s not a village in the same sense as what you’re talking about here! Very developed and Western. But I like the small town feel and the fishing/ocean culture.
That sounds like fishing villages I've visited in Norway!

Lovely place! 😄 Looking at the photo reminds me of how peaceful it was back then in the country side where I grew up living in a bamboo house. Life was simple and at times we're financially short but life in the country side is heaven. This photo is such a beautiful reminder of that and I love it! 😄
