And so dear friends I want to introduce you the capital of Poland is Warsaw.
Warsaw is the business centre of Poland, for many years the city suffered from it foreign invaders who destroyed the city, and several times it was rebuilt. When the second world war the Nazis destroyed the city and razed it to the ground, but the town was upset at the old drawings and architectures,it was difficult for such a large city to recover but he did, and I present the photos fascinatingly beautiful city as Warsaw.
In Warsaw there is something to see:the enchanting beauty of the reconstructed Old town,Architecture,Royal way and parks. The city of about 2 million people,a stunningly restored historic centre, the remains of the Warsaw ghetto and monuments Evreiskoi culture, important cultural centers.
There is the Vistula river which divides the city into two parts, the West, the left Bank is the centre and the old town is the historic heart of Warsaw. Everything that can attract tourists travellers need institutions and institutions are right here.
Mazowieckie princes were the first rulers of Warsaw, the fortress, which they built in the XIV century.
In the XIX century Warsaw lost its position and became the most ordinary provincial town of the Russian Empire. After the First world war, it had become a prosperous capital and became independent. The result of the uprising in 1944 the city was destroyed and the few survivors have been evacuated. After the war the residents returned to their capital and began to restore its historic center.
After the fall of communism, and especially after Poland's accession to the EU,in Warsaw the economic explosion that has completely changed its economy.
Old town wonderful by itself as you can see from the photos, even if it is not fully restored after the destruction during the Second world war, the most beautiful is the architecture of the city. You ask me how massive was the destruction?I'll tell you that according to historians, was destroyed 75% of the Old city.It is impossible not to admire the fact that just 30 years after the end of the war the Old town was fully built as it was before the destruction with a very attentive attitude to architecture.Rehabilitation projects was very high, and all the resources went to Warsaw, often at the expense of other cities.
Tour of Old town Warsaw,I suggest you to start is to begin at the entrance to the Old town on the Castle square. Here on the background of painted coloured houses with red roofs has a column with a bronze statue of king Sigismund. You will also see the Fortress wall that surrounds the Old city,it was demolished in the XIX century, but on one of the sides of the square are preserved even fragments of it.But the main object of the square is the Royal castle Dating from the XIII,it is very beautiful and big.Among his many decorated halls is considered to be the main Senate hall, which exhibits the Warsaw and the paintings are landscapes of the XVIII century.
From square go North on the street Swietojanska there are areas where you will show the way.On your right you will notice the oldest in Warsaw St John's Cathedral so you can see the XIV century, built During the second world war the Cathedral was destroyed, but surprisingly, the brick Gothic building was restored as it was.In the crypt are the graves of famous poles, including the princes of Mazovia. In 1944 during the uprising of the city after the German occupation the Cathedral has played an important role. The churches were part of the German tanks.Outside southern wall you can see stuck in the stone fragments of shells, which was used by the Nazis for the destruction of the Old city.
If you go a little further North to the historic part of Warsaw, the Market square of the Old town, you will see a compact area it is considered one of the most beautiful in Poland, with a harmonious colorful ensemble of mainly four-storey merchant houses of the XVI—XVIII centuries, each with individual designs and details in the Gothic style,Baroque or Renaissance style. All of this amazing work of restorers in which it is impossible to believe that the area is a copy of what was here before the war.In the center of the Market square there are two fountains and a statue of a Siren with a shield and sword of the Warsaw mermaid from the ancient legend. It is popular among visitors to the city place with a succession of beauty, and expensive restaurants, they occupy the first floors and basements of several homes.Especially a lot of people come here in the summer when the area is filled with cafe tables, artists, street musicians and horse-drawn carriages.
In the North West corner of the square is a huge Museum.Until 2014, he was called the Historical Museum. The Museum of four floors with about 60 rooms. The collection includes drawings and engravings of views of Warsaw,an extensive exhibition of archaeological finds, also the layout of the burgher houses of the XVIII century, weapons and documents,Nazi uniforms, and more. The Museum is like a long maze, with the majority of explanations that there is written only in Polish, the Ministers can propose you the route to the city's history unfolded in chronological order.Behind the market square streets lead to a lovely little corners, quiet courtyards and narrow lanes is very nice. This is the best place for walking. Also don't miss the area behind the Cathedral where you will see a beautiful little Canon square, overlooking the Vistula river.
On the Krakowskie Przedmieście street and moving further South, you will pass by the monument to Adam Mickiewicz,it was a famous Polish romantic poet. Further South of you is a white neoclassical Palace called the Radziwill family, and this is the residence of the President of Poland. In front of the Palace you can see four large stone lions and a statue of Prince józef Poniatowski. On the opposite side of the street is the Palace, which is now the Ministry of culture and art.To the West of the kingsroad in the depths of the Saxon gardens, the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. To the South of the Potocki Palace, the entrance of the University of Warsaw marked the beautiful gate with the traditional Polish eagle on top.It is the most prestigious of the universities of the capital.Several buildings are former palaces, and the oldest 1634
At the fork of the road stands a monument to another great son of Poland's famous astronomer Nicholas Copernicus. As they say,his theory Copernicus stopped the Sun and moved the Earth.Immediately behind the monument Boulevard becomes Nowy świat street, one of the most fashionable streets in Warsaw, with its chic boutiques and cafes.
