Exploring Alaska Dr. Seuss house.

This being so close to our house I wanted to do a post about it.

According to the owner Phil Weidner it is Goose creek tower, but to every one else it is the Dr. Seuss house. Standing at 185 feet it is by far the tallest building in the area.

Construction started in the late 1990’s. As the story goes it was designed as a single story home, with a wonderful view of Denali mountain. The home was constructed after a forest fire had burned the area. New growth started impeding the million dollar view. So story after story was added to obtain that view.

Goose creek tower once again is under construction. After almost 10 years of sitting vacant. The owner is attempting to finish the building and open it as a tourist attraction.

Currently the building is closed off to the public and is on private property, which is marked vary well with keep out.

The house is visible from the parks highway traveling north, or from the Alaska railroad.

Out of respect for the owner I had to take these pictures from another source.

That is so awesome! It reminds me of this movie. :)

I would love to see the inside.I hope the owner can complete the renovations and make it a tourist attraction.

He is a lawyer in Anchorage. I think if any one can it would be him. Lots of money getting the supply’s and moving them to the sight.

Very interesting structure, if looking a little like it would blow over easy if anyone even broke wind near it hehe

I will give the builder some credit. We had a 7.6 eathequake 2 years ago and it is still standing.

Yeah, looks are deceiving, I'm sure it's solid and that quake is good testament to their skill. Would be interesting to see more of the actual internal structure.
