My Travel Story - A Visit to my Mom's Farm in Sitio Laray, Mantalongon, Dalaguete, Cebu #2

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Last Sunday was very memorable because I had the chance to explore Cebu’s Vegetable Capital - in Mantalongon, Dalaguete.

It can be found in the Southern part of Cebu, that’s four hours drive away from Cebu City if you ride in a Ceres bus from the South Bus Terminal.

It was a day trip with the whole family when my mom invited us to come along and visit her farms. I also tag along my kids to be able to experience the beauty of nature.

After we did a quick tour on her first farm filled with cabbages, lemons, coconuts, mangoes and pine trees, we then headed to Sitio Laray, which is approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Sitio Mt. Talongon where her first farm and the newly-opened “ Flower Garden in Mt. Talongon” is situated.

We parked our car along the highway because we still need to hike to reach our destination. Good thing, I brought my backpack which has biscuits, cookies and water for my kids’ consumption.

My son was full of energy. In fact, he walked down the road until we reach the farm with no help. I am a bit worried if he gets tired because I could not carry him if he would ask for a lift.

We passed by a small hanging bridge and also a small swamp, where my stepfather would advise each one to take extra caution because the swamp is slippery and muddy.

If I’m not mistaken, we walked for about 10 to 15 minutes. There were also other farms and even a piggery that we passed by.

I felt relaxed with the nature’s beauty that I didn’t notice we’ve already reach mom’s second farm. It is bigger than the first farm.

Unlike the first which is levelled, this one is quite elongated that you have to get some leg force to keep still.

My mom gave a heads up that there are sweet corns. I didn’t know it was quite a space full of sweet corns. I sooo love to eat these, too bad it’s not yet time to harvest.

There were also young tomato plants. Look, it’s really cute.

Sweet potatoes are also massive in another section of the field. My stepfather even showed us how to harvest them. I was very attentive on how it was being done, I forgot to take a shot.

And there were the kids! They have managed to reach to the top portion of the field.

Sharing some photos we were able to capture!

I even told my mom I will not get starve if ever I’ll decide to settle in the province because these vegetables are within reach and very fresh to eat.

That’s it for now, Steemians! More of these on my next post.

Love,

Amy

wow! your mom's farm is big. How I wish we're near Dalaguete to buy vegetables. It's affordable and fresh from the farm unlike here in the city expensive and not so fresh. The kids are hyped and seems enjoying the province atmosphere.

Beautiful story, gorgeous land and lovely photos
