This town with a population of 75,000 is situated at the southern tip of Argentina, it is the port for adventurous people who board ships sailing to Antartica.

Here is a little bit of information on this part of the world from Google:
Ushuaia is a resort town in Argentina. It's located on the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, the southernmost tip of South America, nicknamed the “End of the World.” The windswept town, perched on a steep hill, is surrounded by the Martial Mountains and the Beagle Channel. It's the gateway to Antarctica cruises and tours to nearby Isla Yécapasela, known as “Penguin Island” for its penguin colonies.source
This is what Ben and I are doing later on this afternoon, we are embarking the Ocean Endeavour to sail down to the Shetland Islands. We are travelling with a company called Quark Expeditions.
It is currently a chilly 2 degrees, there was light snow falling during the night and this morning. The locals consider this to be pleasant given the fact that winter is minus 25 degrees. So perhaps it is best to say how lovely the weather is.
It is a beautiful town with very pleasant and friendly people. We have walked around as tourists do getting the lay of the land and trying not to snap photos inconspicuously .
No wonder it is chilly because surrounding mountains are topped with snow, a sight that a girl from sub-tropical South East Queensland does not see very often.

Here is the main street called St Martin Avenue (Av. San Martin) where many cafes and restaurants are located.

Like every other town or city there is a variety of housing for the townsfolk.

This boat on a slant seemed to have a story to tell so I looked up Google and it is the ........
St. Christopher Shipwreck is a grounded boat that was part of the British Royal Navy in World War II. Built in 1943, the rescue tug played a role in the war before being sold, used commercially and then getting snagged on shore in Ushuaia in southern Argentina. Note how the boat rests at a slant in the Beagle Channel.source

Lastly here is the view from our accommodation, Hotel Las Lengas. It is a popular hotel for the tourists who are probably like us boarding ships to enjoy the Antarctica.

The foyer is well designed with big glass walls for people to sit and enjoy the views

Cheers and Blessings

A view of the sky from our plane as we flew to Ushuaia

Very beautiful view, I hope to travel to such a place!

Thank you @bearbear613.
That looks like a wonderful little city angiemitchell and the photos are really good! That ship from WWII got stuck there and no one ever got it unstuck? That's bizarre!
Hi janton, no it has been there all that time. Maybe it is because it is a touristy reason, too expensive and not worth the money. Anyway we enjoyed seeing it and taking photos like all visitors do, haha.
I guess that was the smarter move then, to leave it there as a tourist attraction!
Yes absolutely.
