Travel to Tinuy-An Falls (The Niagara Falls of the Philippines)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Maajong Adlaw Steemians!

We’re in the middle of the month already and accept it or not, March is vastly approaching. In just a blink of an eye, summer time is coming. And I acknowledge that the summer heat in the Philippines is real. But worry not, with over 7,100 islands our country was composed of and aside from the beaches, other natural resources like springs, lakes, rivers and falls also exists. We don’t have to go to other countries just to experience white sand beaches and falls. And to that, with no further ado, I’ll introduce to you Tinuy - an Falls, one of the pride of Surigao Del Sur and the said to be Niagara Falls of the Philippines. With it's 95 meters wide and 50 meters high, who would disagree to that?

Tinuy-an falls is a three levelled waterfall located in Bislig, Surigao Del Sur. The people of Bislig believed that the waterfalls were purposely made by a DIWATA that’s why it was perfectly made so they named it “Tinuy –an” meaning “Sinadya” in Tagalog or “Purposely made” in English. We lived in Mindanao and most people believed in myths. LOLS . I don’t really know what the term so bear with me.

The place is more than 2 hours’ drive from my place. From Bislig, another 40 minutes’ drive you have to take. And as usual, roads are rough and not cemented so prepare for a shaky bumpy ride. But don’t worry the place is accessible in any kind of transportation except buses.

Transportation Available:

  1. Car– If you came from a far place, you can rent a car for this trip which includes the driver. The price will vary on the car type and numbers of people. The comfort in travelling by car is a must go ride.

  2. SkyLab (Habal – Bahal)– This is a famous means of transportation in Mindanao especially in the mountain areas where roads are not cemented. It is a single motor where more than 8 people can ride. ☺️

Unfortunately, as this place is rural, no public transportation such as jeepneys, motorcycles and buses available.

Let's Go To Level 1

)

Be shallowed by the raging water. The bamboo raft is applicable in this floor as the water's dimension is wide. We had our back being massaged by the strong splashed of the water. This place is majestic!

Level 2

Be careful on the slippery way going up to the second level. The view from this level is astonishing and if you are afraid of heights, you should challenge yourself and climb to this level. No Regrets as they say. :)

Level 3

This is the last level where the people can be climbed. The way going up here is not easy but I enjoyed here a lot. As you see, the stones were beautifully designed like a ladder. You can sit on the rocks and have your back being massaged by the water.

This trip has been meaningful as I am with my brother and cousins. Thank you so much for reading my blog for today. I hope you will be able to come and visit this beautiful place. Wishing you all the best. :)

There is a place we used to slide down the waterfalls in New York, where we went on vacation every year when I was a kid. Bog River Falls, drops into Tupper Lake. Your pictures made me think of that for the first time in many years, thanks!

You had an awesome childhood! Thank you for your warm comment. 💕
