Ultimate Packing List for Travelling to Beijing

What are the most essential items that are crucial for travelers when heading to Beijing?
Here are a few items that is not only important but handy to bring in case of emergencies!

Internet Connection

Pocket WiFi is not uncommon for travelers. It is convenient to use and bring around. Some of people might not have access to Pocket WiFI from their country or it costs more expensive. Although WiFi connection is everywhere in Beijing, to be safe from unwanted trouble, it will be better for us to have our own internet connection. Another option is to buy phone number that include internet packages in Beijing Airport. This could help you a lot when you encounter talking with Chinese people and might help you search the transportation that you need.

Cash

It would not hurt you to bring some cash since a lot of little shops in Beijing don’t accept credit card for payments. Make sure you have small change with you to pay and beware to check your RMB 100 bills before you pay and after you pay. Although the laws in Beijing is strict, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Sneakers

Since travelling in Beijing means that you will walk a lot, especially in tourists’ place such as The Great Wall. Sneakers will help your feet to feel at ease to walk the next day.

Your own medication

Be sure to bring the necessary medication you need for situations of emergency, especially if you have allergies or minor sickness. The new environment and new food can be difficult for some people to adapt so it is best to bring some basic medicine for digestion or for a cold.

Tissues (available everywhere in Beijing)

You don't have to bring this from home, this list is to remind you to purchase them from the supermart when you get to China. Public toilets in Beijing do not provide tissues. Keep some wet wipes in your bag too.

GPS Tool for those love hiking in outskirts Beijing

Outdoor Networking Device

Have you ever been stressed at the thought of seeing 5% battery left in your phone while hiking in the middle of nowhere? Having no signal when lost while exploring? A GPS tool is extremely useful when faced with these challenges, because newer devices such as GoHeart not only acts as a GPS traceable for other members, it is able to send SOS, Voice Messaging and texts, along with a built in Walkie-Talkie function, you can broadcast your message right away without pressing a button!

“If you’re going camping, hiking or anywhere without a signal, you definitely need this! GoHeart brings you to places you want to be” Danielle.S

Seasons are also one of the factors that need to be considered when packing your stuff.
Winter in Beijing is not like in any other cities, the weather feels really dry and some of the day will be joined by polluted air. Some essentials stuff that you need to consider to bring for your travel.

 Thick Winter Clothes: Temperature will reach below -0 degree Celsius.
 Moisturizer: Cold temperature cause our skin to lose moisture and Beijing’s air quality is really dry. Not enough moisture can cause our skin to cracked.

Whatever you bring for trips to Beijing, make sure that it is important and essential enough to bring for the trips. In the end, you will enjoy the trips more if you are prepared everything well. Lastly, don’t forget your passports, paperwork and important documents for your travel, be safe and have fun while in Beijing!

Do you suggest wearing a face mask against the smog?

you can get it here in 7-Eleven or FamilyMart, you dont have to bring it from home.
if you're climbing the greatwall or going hiking, you dont need it, its pretty clean. If u're visiting the gardens you dont need it too. But if ure going to the Olympic Park, maybe, there are less trees around there.
and when u get here, just check the AQI. These days I don't use a mask, but sometimes u need it. (just in case)
Below 200 is still okay, above 200 u definitely need a mask.
southern china has better air than beijing.

you need the mask for 2 things, not just the smog, but also the pollen during spring.

Hey @asiannetwork, thanks for the list! Beijing is on my to visit list so this is really helpful! :) I will definitely need some pocket wifi ;)

Somehow, this cracked me...

Tissues (available everywhere in Beijing)

LOL though I visited China once (I was in Shanghai) and the lady gave me a weird look when she saw me taking enough of tissues for my private session LOL. It's as if they have a way of telling whether you're taking too much or too little of a toilet roll. Oops that's probably too much info ;p Have fun in Beijing! Looking forward to your cool pics @asianetwork

pictures are coming soon =D
