Have you ever just wanted to saddle up and get lost somewhere? To explore a new locale and completely lose yourself in the surrounding bliss? To be able to just leave in a vehicle with virtually no limitations and travel where no one else dares to go!?
Mark Twain once said: "Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime."
To put it simply, traveling is a necessity to mankind. Many dream of it and even aspire to make it reality; yet, somehow, very few do actually take the action and make it happen.
When one travels, experiences that would otherwise be neglect unravel in such magnificence, that the traveler will find themselves cleansed of past hate, bigotry, narrow-mindedness, and the like. The traveler is a modern day pioneer, a conquistador of sorts. The traveler is the bridge between apathy and understanding; and as such, to brave the unknown and venture to a previously unknown land, all the while immersing oneself into a peculiar culture, is becoming of one whom is more a creature of understanding and empathy than stubbornness. To live in isolation is to live in neglect and apathy. But to travel is equatable to the contrary-- the immersion into the unknown equips one with knowledge and empathy towards other perspectives. In essence, the exposing of other world views and perspectives will create a more loving and compassionate human being. The traveler, in effect, has the capacity to be the better person. A broadened sense of understanding and empathy are what makes exploration important. For this very reason, you too should travel.
Equate travel to open mindedness and higher intellect, as it is highly correlated. Go ahead, get lost in the Maldives. Traverse the mountains of the swiss alps. Indulge in the cultural splendor that is quaint little Belgium. Experience is the best teacher and world travel is it's means of production.
So, go ahead and travel while you can. It is worth it. People do not remember the gifts they receive, they remember the experiences they've bore witness too. For the new year, if asked what is your new years resolution... you should reply: to travel more.
Happy new year to you all!!!

Have you ever been to a place that challenged your world view? I love Jamaica, but they live very differently than we do in Chicago. Because it's an island items I would take for granted here are more expensive there!
Did it help form what it is you believe today? Yes, appreciate everything you have and it's made me more of a minimalist than I've been!
If you had no limits on funds and time, where would you go? I would love to see Tahiti. The beaches look wonderful!

Tahiti does sound like a pretty cool destination! Hope you get to go someday soon!!!
I had never been outside of the United States until this last year. My wife really wanted to go to Australia so we had to make that happen for sure. Shortly after, we went to Peru. It makes you wonder why we don't all just travel more..
WOW! If you had no limits on funds and time?
1st find a travel partner who enjoys traveling to the tropics.
Then just go, no set schedule, explore the out of the way places, meet the locals. Go fishing, diving, hiking, find great places to eat, oh driving a Porsche on winding roads to these places would top it off
