A storm that passed through in the early hours of the morning. Shot from Murrays Beach in Jervis Bay the storm front was moving out to sea and north up to Sydney. The lump in the distance is Bowen Island.
Some of the loudest lightning strikes i've ever heard. Might have been because it was so quiet and peaceful otherwise... not sure.
When i was leaving, as i thought the storms had finished. There was a sudden strike very close by, probably about 1/2 a kilometer out from where i was setup. This encouraged me to turn around and head back to take more photo's!
As i reached the end of the path and was walking out onto the beach again this huge strike hit the water what would have been no more than 50m in front of me. I must have jumped about 20m in the air and was pretty shook up when i hit the ground again. ;)
Very quickly, one might say instantaneously, i decided that it was too dangerous and that i was happy with the photo's i had. I hastily made my way back to the car, lightning cracking all around, at which time the rain started pouring down.
In the end i was glad the storm told me to go home after all. :)
Hi! I am glad to see you back here. It has been a while. I do love your image but it is a little bit off the topic. I did add the world's oceans since not many people have pics from Antarctica but yours is just little too much inland. Thank you for your participation though. I certainly hope to see you back. Thank you for your understanding. Tomas
No problems Tomas :) Hopefully have something for you on Monday!
