After getting over the first culture shock it was time to explore and experience. As the true Dutchies we are we booked a bicycle trip. A shuttle service would take us to the top of the Kintamani after stopping at a coffee plantation. We would cycle down the mountain with a guide, visit some stops along the way, walk through the rice paddies and end our trip with lunch at a traditional house.
We had a great time and the trip is really recommended if you wanna see a lot in a short period of time.
At the coffee plantation they also had cocoa, tea and luwak (the coffee bean eating 'cat') coffee. We ordered a tea and coffee tasting and the view was spectacular.
After visiting the plantation it was time for breakfast (since the pick-up was really early) on top of the mountain. We took some time to enjoy the view and then it was time to hit the bike
It was nice to do something active with a view you don't see every day.
I loved the rice paddies. Peaceful, exotic, and quiet.
After the trip we had lunch at a Balinese house. The food was great. I'm getting hungry just looking at it.
It was really cool to be able to see a traditional Balinese house up close. They explained what all the different buildings were for: praying, guest house, gatherings e.g. meals, etc. All so exuberantly decorated. Really beautiful!
After the trip we were dropped off at the resort and later that day we visited Ubud again
Living the good life in a tropical paradise
And that definitely was enough excitement for one day. Still adjusting to the time difference and the heat.
Stay tuned! There's a lot more coming :)
