One of the most beautiful states of the United States America, Hawaii is comprised of an archipelago of the Hawaiian Islands in the central Pacific Ocean. The Hawaiian Islands, formerly known as the Sandwich Islands, were inducted into the U.S. territory in 1900. The archipelago of Hawaiian Islands include the major eight islands of Nihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, L?nai, Kahoolawe, Maui and the Island of Hawaii, and many islets.
The Hawaiian Islands were discovered and named as ‘the Sandwich Islands’ by British explorer Captain James Cook. The Hawaiian Islands were united for the first time under a single ruler, King Kamehameha the Great.
Hawaii or HI was recognized as the 50th state of U.S. in Aug. 21, 1959. The name of the state of Hawaii possibly came from the native Hawaiian word “Owhyhee” meaning homeland. The state is nicknamed as “the Aloha State”. Aloha is acknowledgment that can be used as greeting. Honolulu is the capital and the largest city of the state. Hawaiian and English are the official languages of the state.

Climate— The islands of Hawaii receive abundant amounts of both sunshine and rain. Rain is more likely on the north and east sides of the islands, however, rain is less likely on the coastal areas of the "leeward" sides (the south and west sides) of the islands. Hurricane season in the islands runs from June to November.
Overall, Hawaii is warm and temperate, and air is soft and humid. A pleasant breeze blows in the summer months. There is usually no more than a 20-degree difference between daytime high and nighttime low temperatures. The peak tourist season runs from late December to January.
Traveling To Hawaii— Honolulu International Airport, the main aviation gateway to the Hawaiian Islands, receives most of the international flights, and the flights from all the major destinations the U.S. mainland. The home of Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Airlines, the airport is served by most major American airlines. Direct service from the mainland is also available to Kahului on Maui, Kona on the Big Island, and Lihue on Kauai as well.
Trans-Pacific cruises to Hawaii are the second option to travel to Hawaii, but there are limited numbers of cruises. Norwegian Cruise Lines operates U.S.-flagged cruise ships between the Hawaiian islands.
Charter boats sail between some islands, especially the Maui-Molokai-Lanai area. An excellent public transportation system “TheBus” serves Oahu.
