Before I could get to the article, I wanted to let you'll know that I couldn't post for a week, as my laptop broke while I was on my motorcycle ride :(
There are literally too many options because the North-east of India is not just one big State, it is a combination of 8 States, Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Assam, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. Each place has a variety of cultural experience to offer. If this post does not inspire you then I do not know what will.
Because of the landscapes and the hills.
All your misconceptions about the Northeast will fade away. You will learn that people do not live on trees and that it is not a land of dense forest. You will firsthand experience the ferry ride to the largest inhabited river island Majuli, the hairpin rides amidst tea gardens onto the snow-capped mountains, view the one horn Rhino, the Hornbill and if you are lucky the river dolphins.
Because of the music and lifestyle.
Tomorrow land is an expensive deal. Instead visit the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland which is more than just music. It is a flare of culture with folk dance and food stalls of Nagaland and you can choose to live in tents. If it does not meet your schedule you still have the Ziro music festival in Arunachal and our very own NH7 concert. What would also add flavor to your visit are the people, they are an eye candy with beautiful souls. They believe in speaking their mind and will go an extra notch should you need help.
Because of the collectibles.
If you believe in traveling light, you will shed your principles. You will be stuffing your bag with curios from Sikkim, the different types of daggers from each State, the intricate weaves of the people whether it’s in cotton or silk. Muga are Eri silk are your classic must haves but the list is exhaustive!
Because of the variety of food
The food from North East India is distinct from other provincial cuisines of India. For one, it's less involved, yet has an amazing diversity of ingredients and flavors. It incorporates some tastes and flavors which are….well..peculiar to the region and consonants more with South Asian flavors. You should indulge in the varied array of momos, pork on sticks and the local beer. Every place you visit will have a cuisine of its own, it can be the sticky rice with curd and jaggery or the roasted fish mash or the dried fish chutney and of course the tea.
Because you will come back for a second visit and a third or a fourth
You know by now there is so much to see and do. You can sail on the mighty Brahmaputra or on the soothing transparent waters of Dawki, trek on the living root tree bridge or smell the fresh air of the Mizo hills. You can see the nature at its best at Kaziranga, Manas and Orang. You will realize that one visit does not do justice and the northeast would occupy your calendar for more.

India and traveling with a motorbike. Ooo this is what I want. I am very curious about India. I hope one day I can go there. Also a motorbike.
