The Emerald Pool in Krabi is a Natural Wonder.. Sra Morakot (สระมรกต)

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

The weather in Krabi has been hot the last few days, pushing into the mid 30's. So, we decided to take a drive to somewhere we hadn't been before, The Emerald Pool.

This naturally occurring lagoon is located about 25 kilomtres outside of Krabi Town in southern Thailand, and is simply stunning. The cool, clear, fresh water is fed from a natural spring in the limestone cliffs above. The result, you can see before you.

As it is considered a national park there is an entrance fee of about $5 for visitors. The pool was busy today yet still large enough that everybody could swim and feel relaxed. It was definitely worth the entrance fee.

Access the pool requires a very pleasant walk along a boardwalk for about 1 kilometre through some tropical rainforest.

I hope you have enjoyed my pictures...

A really nice looking place. I've never been to Thailand, but this is someplace I'd definitely like to try to visit when/if I ever do. I'm in the Philippines, so I'm not that far away. Thanks for introducing me to this place.

I'd love to see the Philippines, it looks like it has some amazing places to see too.

beautiful place

Haha...don't cry !

Beautiful place to visit

@bkkshadow is krabi better than phuket? I am looking for great beaches and watersports at a reasonable price...also cheap accomodation and great food!!

It's quite different from Phuket. Krabi is a lot quieter. It has some very beautiful beaches, watersports not so much, but yes cheap accomodation and food can be found if you go looking. You should visit.

I am planning a thailand trip with my husband..would visit bangkok and may be phuket or krabi whichever is cheaper at the same time fun...i want to go island hopping,do water sports and have great food and do a little shopping.. @bkkshadow are you from thailand?

Vow, what a wonderful place!

Krabi was always one of my favourite islands in Southern Thailand. Did you make it out to Khao Sok or Khao Lak? Those places are incredible too @bkkshadow! Followed!

So nice. I would love to go there :-)

Vow nice explore

I visited here a few years ago and I concur it is nothing short of stunning! Krabi is my favourite area in Southern Thailand net to Khao Sok. They need to set up a campsite somewhere within hiking distance to Emerald Pool. That would make for a perfect little getaway. Great post and pictures. Upvoting and resteeming this one @bkkshadow!

Wow, this place looks amazing! It's on my forever prolonging bucket list (: @bkkshadow
