Argentina is trending. Last year, Buzzfeed listed out 20 reasons to hop on a plane to Argentina. And its capital city, is not only known as the city of love but it is also the new hit place to visit in Latin America. Insider also just released an article listing 21 reasons you should book a trip to specifically Buenos Aires.
I can go on forever adding onto these lists of why you should visit Buenos Aires and Argentina in general this year. But I don’t think that would be necessary because by now, you should already be convinced. Instead, I’m going to dedicate this article to the five amazing top spots in Buenos Aires that you must go to if you are visiting! These five places include: the top wine bar, the top beer bar, the top area for touring, the top place to dance and the top place to eat.

Top Wine Bar
If you are a wine lover, I highly recommend visiting Anuva Wines. It’s a wine tasting bar where you can drink some of the finest wine in Argentina, as well as enjoy the most exquisite snacks and food that pair perfected with them. Furthermore, what makes this place super unique and special is its ambience. Many of those who have been to this bar have complimented that the atmosphere is so uplifting that everyone socializes with each other and strangers become friends. There is never a dull night when you visit Anuva Wines!

Top Beer Bar
If you love beer more than wine, there is also another place for you! There is a bar called On Tap in Buenos Aires that serves 20 different taps of the best beers from various local microbreweries. And not only that, if you’re hungry, the bar is also known for its divine hamburgers where the breads are freshly made at the bar! I’ve also heard excellent compliments about their desserts too, specifically about their “riffles.” So make sure to order lots of beers, hamburgers, and riffles - when you visit On Tap!

Top Touristy Location

If there is one spot you cannot miss when you visit Buenos Aires, it is its barrio central called San Telmo, the city’s oldest quarter. It’s a wonderful place with a mix of everything: fairs, music and cuisines. The fairs vary from handcrafts to antique items, while the atmosphere includes music, cultural diversity - and just a great overall experience. Here, you can enjoy and experience Argentina’s culture all in one location.
Near the old quarter of San Telmo, there is a more modern neighborhood called Puerto Madero that you should also visit! Here, you can enjoy the view of more modern and sophisticated buildings, different types of restaurants and a splendid view of the river. Around this area, there are also many bars and pubs that people often go to after work. As a tourist, you should definitely spend some time here and bar or restaurant crawl to immerse yourself in the culture.
PS: For Active Buenos Aires Visitors: there is a famous Forrest called Palermo Forest (bosques de Palermo) in Palermo - which is fun to run through!
Top Tango Show
Even if you don’t know how to dance, tango is a must when you are visiting Buenos Aires. One thing that you have to do during your stay there is to go see a Tango Show! I heard that Friday nights are always the best to go see a show with live orchestra and dancing. The best well known tango dinner show in Buenos Aires is at a restaurant called Complejo Tango.
Afterwards, if you want to practice your tango moves or to just have fun, head to a “milonga” where you can learn how to dance tango. There are many “milongas” around the neighbor of San Telmo, so I suggest asking around for recommendation when you are there! It’s an experience that you will never forget.

Top Place To Eat
There are millions of top restaurants in Buenos Aires with different cuisines so it may be difficult to choose one; but I highly recommend visiting the downtown area around La Plaza de Mayo, el Cabildo and la Catedral Metropolitana. Argentinians call local restaurants that service authentic traditional food “bodegones porteños” so I suggest asking around for good “bodegones porteños” places when you arrive. Afterwards, if you want to enjoy time at some nice coffee places, there are many cute stores around Avenida de Mayo.
One of my very favorite is a restaurant called El Cuartito; it's a small local restaurant that serves very traditional Argentinian food and the prices are reasonable. If you go, you should try their "Argentinian" pizzas. It's quite a unique and popular dish of the restaurant.
