It is quite near Karlovac. Little over an hour drive from Zagreb, the capital.
One of the cleanest flowing natural waters in the whole country! Rich flora and fauna!
I wanted to swim up to a secluded area in the river itself and take some photos but I was afraid of getting my phone wet! My girlfriend said I was crazy and that I should stop thinking in Steemit colors all the time :)
It is amazing that you are actually able to swim up the little waterfalls and get a nice clean, refreshing massage by the water-flow! I don’t understand how is this not more popular.
A simple guide in 5 steps:
take your family tent
put it on a meadow next to the Zeleni Kut - a family B&B. The view from the place:
- have lunch there - one of the best pizza I’ve tasted. Fresh toppings and lots of them. Budget prices. Healthy options available too!
jump in the river and dive in a myriad of fish and other cool creatures.
open a beer
Bliss!
Locals say that a day spent on the Mrežnica River is one day of life more!

I like fresh and salt water for swimming but I lean more towards fresh water. It's more refreshing I'd say.

Definitively not! It is the most popular macro lager in Croatia, but all that was available at hand! I am considering reviewing Blue Moon! If I do, I'll remember you ;)

That's what makes life worth living, right there. The beer is just an accessory at that point. As long as it is light and refreshing, I don't think you could make a bad choice.

what was the water temperature?
Not sure but quite warm for the rushing water. I was surprised. I like it but those who enjoy colder temp might get a tad dissapointed.

STOPI saw a one hour show on Plitvice on one of the nature channels. It is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.
That is true! But it is under protection so sightseeing only. You can't swim or walk wherever you please. Also, it is very crowded.
