Baguio is my favorite place to go to. It is for me, the happiest place in the planet! I thought I had enough of Baguio but I was proven wrong. Just a few days my Mom and I were blessed to experience staying in one, if not, the best accommodations in the City of Pines! FOREST LODGE it is!
We all travel for different reasons. But most of the time it is to destress and get away from the hustle and bustle of urban living. And to do just that here in Baguio, it has to be at the outskirts of the city. Away from the noise and the traffic.
FOREST LODGE is inside Camp John Hay and just about three minutes from the Victory Liner Terminal. Pine trees are still a plenty and the weather is still cool even at noon. As they always say, if you are aiming for the "Old Baguio" feel, it has to be here.
Entering the FOREST LODGE left us mesmerized! Right in front of us was truly one of the most beautiful hotel lobbies we've ever been to! Magnificent artworks everywhere. A working fireplace to give warmth to a cold night and too many cushioned sofas to lounge on while reading your book or magazine. At the left side is a Library and Music Room with a collection of Vinyl Records and a turn table with a piano beside it. I'm sorry but I should say theirs is a lot grander than The Manor. Amazing!
We arrived around 11am. Very early for the 2pm check-in time. We were warmly greeted by the courteous and friendly staff. Our gracious host for the next three days Assistant Front Office Manager Ross Bautista welcomed and asked us to register. While our room's still being prepared, we decided to have lunch at the nearby Dencio's.
Our room was very spacious. It had two queen-size beds, a flat screen TV with cable, a desk, dresser, mini-fridge, sink, coffee maker and cabinets. Two bottles of complimentary bottled water and coffee were provided. There's also a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board. The bathroom had towels and complete toiletries. What more could one ask for? There's a ceiling fan. No aircon. Well, who needs one? It gets to be really cold especially in the afternoon and at night.
No car? No worries. Just ask one of the lobby guards to get you a cab and you'll have your ride in just a few minutes. Just one tip though. Taxi fare averages between P120-200 depending on where you're going so please make sure to prepare an itinerary for the day.
TIPS :
- When travelling with seniors, it is advisable to travel by car. This avoids too much walking and breaking the bank paying taxi fares.
- We were told that they have one room at the ground floor with facilities equipped for seniors.
- Forest Lodge and The Manor are sister hotels. Guests at the Forest Lodge may visit The Manor's beautiful garden and take instaggramable photos. You can also use its facilities such as the gym and sauna.
- To save some bucks, it is highly suggested to buy bottled water in supermarkets outside and just put them in the fridge.
- Visit the hotel's Music Room. It has a working turntable and ask assistance to play some vinyl records.
- You get as much as 50% off published rates online during off-peak months. For less than P3000, you get an overnight stay for 4 pax. With all the amenities you will enjoy, this is such a steal!
My gratitude to the owner and to all your awesome staff! Thank you FOREST LODGE! I will be back. That's for sure!
