Zagreb is a lot nicer than I expected!
I came here accidentally since flights were cheaper to Zagreb than to Split, where I will spend the month of May. People rave about Split and Dubrovnik in Croatia, but I never heard much about Zagreb.
Well, it's actually really pretty!
Besides a nice old town center it also has tons of museums. I'm normally not a museum person, but it seems the Croatian people like to make museums for pretty much everything!
The most famous one is probably the Museum of Broken Relationships, which everyone told me I just had to see. It is basically a collection of artefacts - from old love letters or rings to exercise bikes - with stories attached. They give you a nice glimpse into old and modern dating life! I might make an extra post about this.
Besides this museum there is the Museum of Illusions (that's a fun night out!), the Museum of Chocolate, the Museum of Torture, the Museum of Hangovers (really) and of course the Tesla museum.
In other news, I saw a lot of Bitcoin signs in Zagreb!
It seems that every local currency exchange also offers Bitcoin! This one is right next to the Old Miner. Very fitting :)
So, my verdict is: Zagreb is absolutely worth visiting!
Accommodation is affordable, and so is going out. I spent 5 days here, which was just the right amount. I think it's a great destination for digital nomads, too, since there are tons of café's in the center where you can sit with your laptop and work. The coffee is very good - I mean Croatia is not far away from Italy, so if you're a coffee snob like me, you will not be disappointed.
Oh, and did I mention that the people are super friendly, too?
