I just wanted to share with you all some pictures I took during a recent trip to Bogotá, more specifically the Gold Museum.
As many of you may already know, South America was, still is, rich in natural resources. When Spaniards arrived, they found that gold was a fundamental part in the rituals and life of Pre-Hispanic cultures.
Conquistadores collected vast amount of gold and silver from the indigenous peoples in all South America and, although most of it was sent to Europe, a big part of it remained in their countries.
The Gold Museum in Colombia has a collection of around 55.000 pieces of gold, mostly, and other materials that once belonged to the pre-Hispanic cultures who inhabited our lands.
In case you’d like to visit someday, here is some info about it:
Located in downtown Bogotá, the address is Carrera 6 # 15-88, However if you tell your Uber driver to take you there, they should know. Entrance fee is around 3 US dollars for adults and a little less for children. You can also find guided visits in different languages, especially English.
Remember, if you’re coming to Colombia, let me know and I can find you things to do.
All pictures were taken by my, using my phone so I apologize for the quality.
