It’s not just for millennials, people of all ages, and even families, are choosing to travel and life in a van. What some look as an alternative way of living has become the regular for these van-lifers. The perks are obvious: travelling, freedom and maybe most importantly, money. Buying a van is literally about 23 times cheaper than buying a house right now, at least assuming the house is the average house price in Toronto. If these perks don’t already persuade you, perhaps seeing some of the epic VW vans that are for sale will.

What features your dream van has is completely dependent on how you’re using your van. Are you using it twice a year to pack your family in for a family road trip? Are you using it every couple months to travel? Or are you using it as your home, allowing you to travel every day if you’d like? However you choose to use your van, there are a few features to add to your van that will make your travels even more enjoyable than before.

Camping gear can be as versatile as the people who use it, and one person’s choice of gear says a lot about their lifestyles. Take tents, for example. Some people deploy massive canvas condominiums for themselves, other people can only bear to go out into the wilderness ensconced in an RV, while still others are comfy with just a tiny one-man tent or even just a tarp. There are a few campers and adventurers, however, who take getting close to nature even farther than many of their other tree-hugging counterparts. These courageous souls venture into the wilderness with few pieces of camping gear, preferring to slum it in the rough – far from any roof (or pair of clean underwear). They are the brave, the few, the frequently damp. They are the tentless.

Getting a good nights sleep on the road can be hard. Especially so if your sleeping plans involve a tent, a car, or the cold, cold ground. Trust that if you plan on sleeping in locations that don’t involve a real mattress, investing in a sleeping pad is essential.

Out with the old and in with the new. Instead of buying a rundown house, tearing out the entire interior and making it your dream home, people these days are choosing to do their renovations on their car instead. More specifically, people are buying VW campers and transforming them into their homes on wheels.
Adding beds, tiny kitchen features and even electric showers, these homes are improved drastically from the old VW vans that you saw growing up. Instead of just being a car, these vans are turned into the ultimate travelling vans. Cheaper than a mortgage, with the ability to be parked on a beach or under the stars and cozier than an apartment, these vans can be renovated into anything you want and the results are awesome.
