RE: One thing Mexico does very well, traffic

in #travel2 days ago

Never heard the terminology called topes before as we have them and they are speed bumps built into the road. I have ripped off an exhaust before where the speed bump was the same color as the road with no warning. Someone recently layed down a tarmac speed bump outside their business on a busy road which was obviously removed as it was seriously dangerous , illegal and was way too high.

I can understand the Mexicans using this method to control speed on the roads and was wondering do these topes show up on the travel apps?

I don't know if they turn up on travel apps or not because I wasn't in charge of transport at any time. I think not but I guess people can design any app they want.

The fake topes are a trip. People have been programmed to fear the speed bumps so often the cities will create mirage topes with paint and they look like they are real but there is actually nothing there. What a clever trick!

I agree about the damage to a vehicle and that these things are effective but need to be more clearly marked. Their effect is to slow down everyone but at the same time I am sure there is plenty of damage to cars that weren't even doing anything wrong.
