Hey guys,
I wanted to share with you my plans for my next trip. I'd like to go see Roraima. For those who don't know, Roraima is a 31 km squared plateau, which stands at an elevation of 500 m and an elevation from sea-level of a little more than 2800m. It is located in the mid of the Amazon forest, bordering Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana. From Venezuela it takes approximately a week to arrive to this location by hiking from the nearest town. I find it fascinating because it's a beauty that's still so hidden from the civilized world. It's quite difficult to get there ,and for a week, you'd need to rely on the provisions you brought and the ones you'll find in the forest (There's a good chance you won't see another group of people during this time). The Eco-system on this plateau has been isolated for a very long time which allowed many of the living organisms to evolve into unique species solely found on this plateau. I posted some pictures below to show you how incredibly beautiful this place is. I took all these picture from Google while researching about this place, so credit goes to various unknown photographers :).
As you can see it's also filled with waterfalls cascading from the top of the plateau.
There are also some pristine pools on the plateau, as shown below.
Venezuela is such a rich country. There are so many natural wonders in this country (The tallest waterfall in the world, Angel's fall, is also in Venezuela). It's a pity the country is doing so poorly economically and socially and that the people are going through such a difficult time. So rich in resources and beauty and at the same time also despair and hardship. Anyway if there are any Venezuelans out there that could give me some advice on how to organize this trip, I would be very grateful :).
Have a good day guys,
Christophe
Hope you'll post a lot of pics about it after the trip. Must be like in a dream.
Those are nice photos.
