Traveling through beautiful Vietnam # 2: Central Vietnam

in #travel7 years ago

After discovering Northern Vietnam, we took an early plane from Hanoi to Danang. Time to discover central Vietnam!

Hoi An

Don't skip Hoi An if you will visit Vietnam. Hoi An ancient town is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and known for his custom made clothes. I really loved this place.

We couldn't wait to discover Hoi An! So we decided to grab a bike to the ancient town to discover Hoi An at day time, in the burning sun. Crazy tourists! This town is like an open-air museum. With old houses, beautiful flowers and tailors everywhere. I think it's definitely worth a while to visit this city at day time. The centre has a lot of great restaurants and coffee bars!

Afterwards it was time to relax in the pool, to enjoy the amazing view over the rice fields.

After sunset the old town lights up with lanters everywhere, go for a nice dinner and stroll around the town. This is a magical experience to see all those lights everywhere.

After 2 days it was time to leave this beatiful place. In the evening, we took the sleeping bus to bring us to our next stop. We were very excited. Unfortunately, this was the worst experience of the whole journey! The bus wasn't built for tall people, my chair was broken and we had some dirty blankets. After 16 hours we arrived in Na Thrang, where we had to wait for approximately 1 hour until our next bus came to pick us up. This turned out to be a mini van with a broken air conditioning, so the driver decided to leave the doors open while driving. But after 4-5hours we finally arrived in...

Dalat

We stayed here for two nights in Pho Thuong House, a cosy homestay with the nicest host! I can really recommend this place to every one. We were very tired of the night in the sleeping bus so we took a little nap and went for dinner in a restaurant on the hill. From the restaurant you had an amazing panoramic view over the city.

The next day it was time to meet our easy riders Jean and Chili. They picked us up with their motorcycles and we spent the whole day together. What an amazing experience! They showed us some wonderful places in and around Dalat. We visited two waterfalls, saw some silkworms "in action" and visited a mushroom village. And ofcourse we've seen a lot of the beatiful surroundings thanks to our great company. This was a day I'll never forget.

Just for the picture

It was time to say goodbye to the great host to continue our journey. Given our bad experience with the night bus, we decided to take the plane to Ho Chi Minh city, this time.

In my next post I will continue the journey to the last part of my holiday to Southern Vietnam!

Sort:

Looks like an adventure... but what are the silkworms used for....?

Yes it was :) they produce silk, that is processed in the small factories .

Very cool!

Yes it was quite cool to see such a thing! :)

My first thought: “oh god, I hope they don’t eat those....”

Really?! They look disgusting!

Agreeeed haha, I'll think about it next time I wear anything made from silk...

Loved Hoi An. Beautiful, relaxing place.
