Paris. For the best view you don't go to the Eiffel Tower, but to Tour Montparnasse, where you can see the Eiffel Tower in all its glory. The view from Tour Montparnasse was reason enough for me to get back there at night time. It was worth it, It think.

Uluru at Sunset. When I travelled in Australia, I had never planned on visiting the red centre, but since I found a ride share headed there, I joined in. I had no expectations, but seeing this huge rock was just incredible! The colours at sunset are simply stunning.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - African Wednesday week #52 - winner announcement!

@aegir African Wednesday entry:

During one of my tours in Namibia, I stopped at a waterhole in Etosha National Park. There was not a single animal to see at that waterhole. However, when I wanted to drive off, a large group of elephants approached and decided to take a bath in the waterhole. Weeks later, when I was scrolling through my photos, I realized that there were two elephants in this photo.

Located in the southeastern part of Lithuania, some 25 km (16 mi) outside Vilnius, the Trakai Castle is a huge medieval castle built on a little island on the Lake Galve. With its origins dating back to the 13th century, the Trakai Castle was the main center of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a powerful European country that existed from the 13th century until 1795.

Thank you so much for your submission and have a great day.

When I tried paragliding, I didnt expect such a nice view over an island Tenerife - the largest and most populated island of the seven Canary Islands. Start in the hills and go down to the beach was a pleasure.

Cool shot. I bet that was such a rush.

What a life long experience this must have been! Moments to be treasured forever.

The Ancient Rome

P1010919-1.jpg
I have visited Rome only once. It was enough to fall in love with this ancient city! If not the sd card size back in the days, the number of images would exceed all expectations.
Let me name some of the architectural landmarks here. On the right, we have got the Tempio di Saturno. In the background, there is a beautiful church dating back to 17th century - Santi Luca e Martina. And then framed between the arches is the Septimius Severus Arch. The view was captured from the perfect spot on top of the Monte Tarpeo street.

spectacular ~ ✨ ~

Awesome shot. I love the black and white in this.

Thank you! B&W felt like an obvious choice for me in this one. I did not think it will get such a great response.

B&W gives your image an old sentiment. Great job!

Thank you! I am so happy the image from Rome has been picked! It is such a beautiful city with so many fascinating landmarks!

Happy Thursday Tomas!

Picture taken about 3 years ago in Mostar, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, formerly one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the country. I was there during Ramadan, to be more specific, right at the end of Ramadan (BiH has quite a large muslim population), the city was quieter than usual. I remember chilling in a cafe near the river. The view was beautiful.

Great to see you participating with this wonderful entry. Thank you so much!

Kranzhorn, Germany
This mountain is right in front of the area I was born in south Germany. It's not a very difficult hike but the view and nature around this area is really stunning. The top is at around 1320 meters and the total hiking time is about 1.5 - 2 hours. Always worth it!

Nature at its best. Thank you so much.

Thank you Tomas! Much appreciated, as always!

The street of the Knights at the medieval town of Rhodos, is one of the most visited attractions in Greece. This shot come up just at the beginning of the night. The lights of the street were very low and the sky was lit by the full moon. I was alone although it was summer time and voilà!

Wonderful, thank you so much!

This photo is from the lovely city of Amsterdam. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time there but loved it’s vibe. Fortunately I did get enough time to wander around and take some photos.

What a great place Amsterdam is. Thank you so much for taking part in today's contest.

Pleasure, thanks for hosting!!

Really calm and peaceful sunset from the 'dune du pilat' on the Atlantic ocean coast of France.
No wind, a fishing boat is passing by, really few people, what else?
Dune fact: This is the tallest sand dune in Europe.

What a stunning sunset!

The burning skies

Very fresh, just shot one hour ago... Stunningly colorful and dramatic sunset at the beach of Baltic Sea nearby Klaipeda, Lithuania. Guess one of the last warm evenings, since finally autumn is coming with approaching rainy front...
Very wide lens used to get most of the scenery at ground and in the skies. A touch of long exposure to freeze the waves and to get some additional compositional lines into the scenery

Enjoy!

The sky is on fire! Amazing as always. Thank you so much.

Today I'm sharing a photo I took at Sergels torg, the central public square in Stockholm, Sweden. Sergel is a 18th-century sculptor whose workshop was once located north of the square. The 37 metre tall glass obelisk in the middle of the fountain is named Crystal - vertical accent in glass and steel. The shapes and lights against the night sky look pretty amazing, isn't it? :)

That sure is truly magnificent.

Matera is an Italian city located in Basilicata region, Italy.
Considered one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world, Matera is famous for its cave dwellings, the famous Sassi di Matera, carved on the mountainside. Here, you can admire one the bigger Sassi house.

This photo shows the beginning of a 'human tower' being built in Barcelona. The Catalan tradition of building 'Castells' happens in many other parts of Spain but I saw this one during Barcelona's La Mercè festival. To get the shot, I managed to get permission to stand on the Balcony of the Major's office overlooking the square in which the Castells were being built.

Flying in high season can be expensive, but when heading to Asia in July, I found a good deal with Norwegian from Copenhagen. Before heading to the airport, I had a day for exploring this beautiful city.

San Gimignano is a small hill town in Tuscany, and is well known for its medieval lanes and the thirteen medieval towers that stands within the town. We climbed up one of the highest clock towers and was treated with the beautiful panorama of the town as well as the rolling hills beyond. It was particularly cool to see traditional houses with the yellow-red terracotta tile roofs squeeze along side narrow lanes. Very picturesque!

Hello there!

Here is my submission for the Thursday challenge.

I was born and raised in Toulouse, one of the largest and most beautiful cities in France. Its nickname, la Ville Rose ("the Pink City"), refers to the distinctive pink bricks used to build many of its buildings in the old days.

This photo is a view of the Hôpital de La Grave, once the second largest hospital establishment there. It was named after the sandy bank ("grève" in French) of the Garonne River where it was built. On the left, you will see a part of the Pont Saint-Pierre.

I chose this image because I love the reflection of the buildings in the water. The beautiful texture of the clouds also adds an ominous feel. And I haven't been back in my hometown in years, so the scene brings back good memories.

It is also a quintessential view of Toulouse. Anybody who has visited the city will instantly know what they are looking at.

For your submission to count, you need to include the image in the comment section and also include a 30 to 50 word description of your image.

Oh I didn't see that! But there are more than the minimum amount of words, that's for sure.

But that is in your post, not the comment. You will be judged on the comment. Not your post. I would suggest that you edit the main comment to include the description and the photo. Leave the link to your post because that is important as well. But the most important part is to have the image and the description displayed here in the contest post.

Thank you for explaining things to me! I will edit the original comment.

View of Wartburg Castle located near Eisenach, Thuringia (Germany). This Castle is very famous since Martin Luther sought refugee there after he was excomuogated by the Pope Leo X, and he did the translation of the New Testament from the original texts in Greek (Koiné) into German. These texts were fundamental for the consolidation of the German language.
