In Sydney, we get some pretty cracking electrical storms every now and then. This bolt of lightning literally lit up the sky over Sydney's CBD almost hitting the iconic Sydney Tower.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans week #26 – winner announcement!

@dmytrokorol Tuesday of Antarctica and World´s Oceans entry:

We had been finishing our road trip in 2014 in a town of Hel, Poland. We just checked in in a hotel when I realized, something was happening with the light. I grabbed my gear and ran to the sun hoping there should be the sea. Happily, Hel located on a peninsula and the sun were setting on the shore in the shortest distance from me. On the beach, I noticed the seagulls and thought they could be a nice foreground. But they noticed me too, so I ended up trying to catch them and the waves in one shot.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – African Wednesday week #26 – winner announcement!

@ansharphoto African Wednesday entry:

Quiver Trees, Namibia. The Afrikaners called the trees kokerboom, but because their fibrous, pulpy trunks are easy to hollow out and were once widely used as quivers for arrows for bushmen, they are known as quiver trees. The trees are naturally found in only this one relatively small part of Africa, and typically grow alone, like curiously-formed sentinels guarding the landscape. There are fewer than two hundred of them left in the world.

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – European Thursday week #26 – winner announcement!

@stabilowl European Thursday entry:

Another photo of the township of Hallstatt, this time in the middle of a stormy afternoon, looking across to the wharf from the lakeside walkway. The low lying clouds covered the mountains behind the town, making it look mysterious and misty, while some afternoon sun still managed to shine onto the storm clouds illuminating the buildings along the waterfront. A view that is worth getting wet for!

7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge – North American Friday week #26 – winner announcement!

@derangedvisions North American Friday entry:

During our vacation to Oregon earlier this year, we traveled to Crater Lake. While we were there, we met this hiker, who went by the name "Gentleman", who was traveling by foot from Mexico to Canada. He said he had been on the trail for a few months and was hoping to be done within the next month. I could only imagine the stories he has.

This is a photo from my visit to Peru in December 2014. Near Trujillo is the small town of Huanchaco, a popular beach destination known for its surf waves. Overlooking the beach is the Iglesia de la Virgen del Socorro, one of the oldest churches in Peru, built between 1535 and 1540. The view standing at the church looking at the beach and city below was one of my favorite parts of my visit here.

Today I'm sharing a picture I shot in Colombia. I took a bus from Medellin to Guatapé and got off on the way at the town of El Peñol, to climb the huge monolith rock(it's not really climbing :), just zigzagging up the stairs). At the tower on top, I got this view:

Incredible view! Thank you for that!

Valparaiso at night. This is a beautiful colorful port city located in Chile. Our hotel had a nice view so I set the camera up to do a 24 hour time lapse and this is one of the shots that it took in sometime in the night.

Thank you so much for your entrance. What a great image!

Here is a shot I got of Machu Picchu from halfway up the Huayna Picchu mountain. Machu Picchu's settlement lay out is in the shape of a condor which is really cool, you can get a better look of it from the top of Huayna Picchu but after our 3 day walk and seeing the sheer size of Huayna Picchu we only made it up halfway. haha weak I know, but it gives me a reason to go back :)

Images from Machu Pichu never disappoints! Thank you for your contribution. Tomas

Thank you enormously sir @czechglobalhosts
for his judgment on this photo of mine.

On my trip to Bahia (Brazil) I visited the Costa de Dendê south of Salavador. The first stop was the island Boipeba. If you love beautiful beaches with coconut palms, this is the place to be! m'boi pewa - is a word of the Tupy Indians and means flat snake, in reference to a sea turtle, which gives the name to the island Boipeba.

EL ALTO, BOLIVIA
Shot at 260mm

Optional Text

From down in La Paz Bolivia we could see the moon rising over the city of El Alto. I lived in Bolivia for a couple years and this was on a visit as a photographer in 2012.

That is an epic image! Thank you so much for sharing!

LOS ROQUES. It is a set of islands belonging to Venezuela, it is estimated that the human presence dates back to the end of the first millennium of our era. It is a park that has one of the most diverse and preserved coral reefs in the Caribbean Sea. The climate is very cool, has an average annual temperature of 28ºC. The most representative animals of the island are the green turtle, the pink queen snail, the lobster, fish and 92 species of birds. What makes this place extraordinary is its huge calm sea and the crystal clear waters of incredible colors.

I need some of that:)....

Welcome then :)

La Gran Sabana - Venezuela is one of the main tourist attractions of the country, with views that can only be obtained in this place of the world; For me it was a wonderful experience, it is as if you were in another world and you feel so small in front of that immensity. Any place is excellent to take pictures and for those who like to meditate is great. I took this picture from one of my groupmates.

While wandering through central Cuenca, Ecuador, I came across Plaza Rotary at the corner of Gaspar Sangurima and Vargas Machuca. There I met the woman pictured above. She was part of a group of healers who met each Friday performing “limpias” for a small price. A "limpia" is a spiritual cleansing ritual thought to cleanse the body, emotions, mind, and soul removing any negative energies or thoughts. It is therefore also thought to attract the reverse or happiness, love, health, and abundance.

Thank you so much for your contribution! Have a great day. Tomas

I took this photo in Uyuni Salt Flat in Bolivia!
The place is amazing is just a white flat land all the way to the horizon with a few "islands" rocky hills full of cactuses...
I did a little photoshop to put my foot on my friends chest... on the real photo the only difference is that i'm about 2 meters from him :)

Little fun in the sun:)..... What a great shot!

Thanks! I try to have fun everywhere I go... Thanks for this initiative! I wish I had photos from every continent but that is gonna have to wait for a while or for me to win the lottery :P
4 years traveling and still havent lefts the three americas...
cheers!

The photo shows one of the most iconic constructions of Uruguay, Casapueblo, located at Punta Ballena, near to Punta del Este. This building was designed by the Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró. It was built as a tribute of his son, who was one of the survivors of the crash of the Uruguayan flight on the Andes. In the building there are almost no straight lines and the colour white dominates it.

What a privilege to be able to study in a university that is on the edge of the beach and to be able to take pictures of the beautiful landscape that surrounds it. At the end of the class I went to the pier and captured this beautiful image. In the background is the National Park "Laguna de la Restinga" located on the island of Margarita.

This is in the city of Caracas, capital of Venezuela. Showing a beautiful purple sunset through the big city, where we must not forget that despite being in an area full of many buildings, and infrastructures of all sizes, at nightfall we can always see colors as wonderful as those that the sunset gives us.

The photo im sharing today is from Montevideo, Uruguays capital... they have this beautiful walkway through all the coast of "Rio de la Plata"
The bicycle is my first fixed gear bike!!!

A photo in venezuela, country with many landscapes from mountains, desert and beautiful beaches, this case I present the national park "the drizzle". This parue gives the sensation that it rains at all times due to its waterfalls. This part of the world keeps so much life in it that it gives the feeling of going back in time. A resource such as water, showing strength in this photo

The Iguazú Falls are a group of waterfalls that are located on the Iguazú River. They are in protected areas; the sector of Argentina is within the Iguazú National Park, while that of Brazil is located in the Iguaçu National Park. They were chosen as one of the "Seven natural wonders of the world."

They are formed by 275 jumps, 80% of them are located on the Argentine side. A separate show is the waterfall with the highest flow and, with 80 m, also the highest: the Devil's Throat, which can be enjoyed in all its majesty from only 50 m. This photograph was taken from the Argentine side.

Take the opportunity to share this picture today that begins a small holiday season on the Margarita Island in which many tourists visit this place: "Parguito" beach. It could be said that one of the most famous and beautiful beaches of Venezuela.

The Paracas National Reserve is located in Ica, Peru. The area is protected since 1975 mainly to preserve the various life forms of the aquatic environments and the Paracas desert. Here is an example of one of the various friends we can meet there.

Taquile Island***Peru.
An incredible island where the inhabitants must absolutely carry everything on their backs because there is no means of transport on the island.
We spent one night on this island sleeping at a family, traditional meal and no running water or Electricity. totally exotic., we all climbed up the island, On the way the father of the family gathered plants for the evening tea.

caminito.png

Caminito is a street museum and a traditional passage with many colors, of great cultural and tourist value, located in the La Boca neighborhood of the City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Walking through this place is something unique, where you see so many forms of urban art, that you are left speechless of how spectacular this place is.

This photograph is taken by cable car to the national park "El Ávila". Officially known as "Waraira Repano". It's located in the center-north of Venezuela. It offers multiple trails to its visitors, which can be done by car, cable car or simply by walking.
